Transfer Portal watch

Idk man SMU was a big program back then with a lot of money and a lot of fans. If they didn't get caught they would of kept on winning. I think they could of been like Texas AM. All those big schools were buying players back then as well

Fwiw I really they come back. There's just something enjoyable about their level of blatant cheating. It gives them an aura.

SMU agree. Why USF?

Uhhhh....

One of the largest state schools in the third largest state in the country.

Top 15 media market.

Building an on-campus stadium. Already have an on-campus basketball arena, since the 70s at least.

Need another eastern team to foster natural rivalries with UCF, WVU, Cincy.

Seriously, who do you think should get a bid over USF? And don't say Memphis. Memphis is the 51st largest TV market, Tampa is 13th.

This isn't about "who won a bowl game most recently". If the Big 12 wants to survive, it needs to get bigger and better in every way. You take a university with over 50K enrollment compared to Memphis with, what mid 20K? You take the 13th largest TV market over the 51st.

Florida is the 26th largest state in the US just fyi, unless you meant California which is actually the 3rd largest.

Where did Texas come from and who is their QB this year, wow I thought USC & Bama was his top group

Ewers, the prodigy, is their QB. UT is the most profitable AD in the nation.

They big bag spending. That’s y it makes zero sense for them to underachieve so much

How many transfer receivers is Texas taking? lol
My friend out here in Austin (Longhorn alumni) was very confident that he was going to Texas, and he follows recruiting quite closely. That was over a week ago.

We will see.

They just seem uncommitted to football to me. But your arguments make sense. I haven't followed the mega-realignments going on closely. Why not UCF? Or Tulane if you're talking ****** football programs in big media markets with some wealth and upside? Not being a wise-***, I just never thought of USF as an attractive target for the Big 12 relative to other options.

It comes down to quarterback play.

Texas had Major Applewhite, Chris Simms, or Chance Mock between 1998-2003, and lost around 2-4 games per year. They had V Young and Colt McCoy after, and from 2005-2009 made two national title games and had an additional two one loss seasons. After that, their quarterbacks regressed. Garrett Gilbertvtransferred, David Ash had to medically retire, and the rest outside of Adam Ellinger were mediocre. Their high point from 2010 onward was one 3 loss season. Every other season has been 4 losses or more.

U’re 100% right

Enos was trash and if Osborn went somewhere else he could been put in a better position to succeed.

However staying at Buffalo wasn’t it. They lost their QB Tyree Jackson after the 18 season when he left early to the NFL (went undrafted). Jackson was a kid Diaz and Enos tried to get to transfer to Miami.

The 2 QBs that replaced Jackson threw less than 1800 yards combined. In fact their starting RB, Jaret Patterson rushed for more yards (1799) than all their QBs threw combined (1795).

So no, Osborn wouldn’t have been better off staying at Buffalo.

Boom!!

Case closed.
