Transfer Portal (U Only)

I lowkey respect tf out of SacState. They are embracing NIL and trying to build an actual program. They’ve got local buy in from business owners who have banned together to generate NIL and build new facilities.

Investing in getting at least some talent in paper in the portal (Wallace was a P4 player pre-injury, so who knows) and they got that HS top 50 kid.

Beyond an uphill battle, but could be a fun story that helps a community and proves the benefits of the NIL landscape.

Or a massive misappropriation of funds scandal.

Either way, I’m here for a Netflix doc.
They are making a strong push to jump up to FBS and the heavy NIL investment is part of that process

There is simply just not enough spots for these kids to land. So they end up going from a top school like Miami to a low level school like Sacramento State
I've been one of the biggest critics of Wallace and questioned the take somewhat even before the injury and 100% said absolutely not after his injury. He was never physically gifted enough and borderline for this level to begin with and history of that injury is almost always a drop off and career ender. Some said the injury may not have been as bad as originally expected and/or that his recovery was more promising so maybe there was a chance. See here:

Compound fracture in the leg and you're never going to be the same player again. Period.

I'm aware of the repercussions and image it sends but you can't take the kid on a scholarship. Let them know it repercussions for the HC stupidity running a scrimmage before camp starts.

Take Lewis Cine for example. Most recent comparison in the NFL that I can remember. 1st round pick of the Vikings, stud at Georgia, ran a 4.37 at the combine and was like 99th percentile in the broad jump... compound fracture in London in October 2022. Made 1 tackle in all of 2023 and now going into his 3rd year he likely won't even be making the 53 man. Never will be the same guy. Wallace isn't near that caliber of athlete to begin with.

Wallace and Antoine this year. Both probably on the shelf until 2026 in terms of playing on Saturdays

Wallace probably longer if he's ever even the same.
But...

Even with my doubt of how good he was even before the injury and definitely after.... I think this is more of a sign of Sac State being a bigger NIL spender than most programs even in the G6 plus having the ability to be a lock to get on the field right away and play your way back into the P4.. moreso than anything else. Don't think he's on that low of a level from a talent perspective.

I thought Sac St’s money was funny and that’s why Marion the head coach left.

Or better than mediocre in some cases. Popo wasn’t mediocre for example.
We have finally gotten to a point that even some good players are not making it onto the field for UM, or not as much as they want. Popo Aguirre is a great example of a good/very good football player who ended up at a school with a lot of very good players at his postion.

I’m actually interested to see what he will do at his next stop because with a lot of playing time, he may shine. I hope he does because every time he played for UM, he played well. Even in limited minutes

Good on the fella.

Most likely will be a backup, seems like a win for UT and Seymore.
They didn’t take/pay a sixth year senior to be a backup. If he struggles, then yeah he may get benched. But Texas’ Oline was awful last year.

Kid had a good year at WKU; CUSA 1st team and Phil Steele & FWAA 2nd team All-American
