Not sure why he wouldn't have eligibility since at least based on what I could find he has only played 3 years after redshirting. He may have walked on senior day more as just in case since he already graduated.

The portal just adds your name to a database that coaches can search, if a kids wants to play elsewhere is could serve as a mode to make is name widely available
