Our newest portal addition is Dawson Harman, South Carolina's starting third baseman this year. It is his 4th college in 4 years. He played at High Point as a freshman and the College of Central Florida (a JC in Ocala) as a sophomore. He hit .227 with 5 homers and 21 RBIs for the Gamecocks.

Still a sacrifice from the football team.

1 or 2 5 stars is not worth an entire baseball program that is a TRUE blue blood.

And if you want to say you are serious about athletics, you can't just cast aside a blue blood baseball program. That is literally the definition of willful neglect.

If you want to tell me we can't somehow come up with $5M a year for our entire baseball program to field a championship caliber roster and elite staff, than that is a joke. Considering football is at about $60M and basketball, which has never won a **** thing is at $15M.

Editing to add I asked an SC fan about him and he said he showed some potential early on and played with a bad ankle for most of the season. Tearing up the Northwoods League right now

This is what infuriates me about the JD hire. JD is basically a Columbus bro. Even for how awful I knew he would be as skipper, I felt forsure his program would be funded at the highest levels which would overcome him being incompetent… because he is a part of the club. That doesn’t appear to be the case.

So we really hired this guy knowing he stinks at what he does and mid level funding….

Just to be clear, in an ideal world, I would obviously want our baseball team to be elite again.

However, the reason I posed the question was exactly this conversation.

Your stance seems to be, you would gladly take a little from Football or Basketball to boost Baseball.

Personally, I would stick to football and basketball.

From a financial standpoint of sport revenue, I would assume Baseball is also 3rd on the list (assuming all 3 sports were to perform equally, still think baseball would be 3rd in revenue). So perhaps that goes into the equation.

Like if you tell me, Francis Mauignoa would be worth a +15 wins in baseball. Im sticking with Francis. A maximized football team that is elite is worth it all imo.

Most, including myself also belived that would have been the case. Yet, it was not. We made an atrocious hire, worst in UM athletics history and aren't even investing seriously in the program.

Good JUCO years, struggled at SC last year but as @JayCane20 mentioned he was dealing with some injuries —- still doesn’t get that much of a pass for the struggles

With that being said he’s having a good start to the summer in the northwoods and will likely feature at 1B cause we are still recruiting left side infielders

It was absolutely a whiff to me that you couldn't pull that kid. Mizzou is spending more this season on baseball, but they have no prayer of being even upper tier in the SEC this year and you're telling me, Miami, with a wide open 3B job, couldn't land a kid with major proven production for that spot?

Harmon is fine as a pickup, he has played in the SEC against legit arms, but that production isn't close to Gorostola even with adjustments.

Our new commit didn’t qualify for the SEC stats list even though he played in 40 games, but he would of slid in at 104th in BA in the SEC…just below Jason Torres
