Good pick up for them.

I have a hard time buying we have an elite nil because there are only two options if we do: 1. We don’t know how to use it 2. We refuse to use it.

If those are the reasons we aren’t going after any major portal entries then everyone needs to be fired.

I’m only guessing but from a looks prospective I tend to believe what Jay is saying.

2027 will be their first real class that doesn't have any commits from the Gino era. 2025 and 2026 are great classes imo
Come on ... stop w this please. JD was Gino's pitching coach, and that's about all we've talked about in this thread.

I like the '25 - '26 classes as well, if they make it to campus. But that doesn't excuse the lack of depth currently.

I’m talking about recruiting class in general in 2025 I have it somewhere in the thread. It was about a 9 (JD) to 6 (Gino) split with some of the commitments

CIS: Fire Manny. He was the coach for 10 years here.

Also CIS: Give JD 4 more classes. The recruits were on the head coach and he just needs to grow into the role after 30 years and going downhill.

In before @ErickMarreroU gives JD all the credit for Cuvet.

I hear ya, but my point was that the biggest need appears to be pitching depth, and that's been JD's responsibility forever.

He did a decent job finding Hugus, Smith, Evans, etc. but let's hope he's using the NIL money and scholarships to find some studs like AR, TN & LSU seem to endlessly send out w every other pitcher on their staff.

I agree on the pitching thing, that's why I said 2027 will be the real judgment mark. JD will have ammo on the trail after we were one game from Omaha, and his pitching development over the past five years. The negative recruiting stuff is dead. This proves why

2026 Gio Rojas is rated the #1 pitcher in the country. 2025, he landed two good arms in Sebastian Santos Olsen and Erick Peralta. Just need to continue to stack talent, which I agree with. I have very high expectations for the 2027 pitching class

Stop it. We have the 2nd-to-3rd-highest NIL in the ACC. The moment you mentioned Texas Tech as a team with more NIL than Miami is laughable. They lost every single elite player from last year's team because there was no NIL and they shifted their focus to softball

The only school out of our league, in my opinion, is Clemson. I don't have any info on UNC, UVA, or NCST. GT, I got direct numbers from them, and they are only at 1 million, and 1/4 of that goes to one player. Miami has more NIL than GT. I think whoever is feeding you info is getting it from a wrong source.

Beyond false. We UNEQUIVOCALLY are not spending the 2nd or 3rd most on baseball in the ACC. Not even close.

And you really are clueless if you don't know about TTechs NIL. School yourself on The Matador Club led by Cody Campbell. I mean, they only gave $1M a year to Nijaree Candy, a SOFTBALL player. Cuvet a future 1st rounder isn't even sniffing that figure.

And shifted to softball? You actually pay attention to there portal class in football this year?

The bottom line is the talent is not at an acceptable level.

There was a touch of an excuse pre NIL and changing of rules but there’s zero excuse now. I’ve said it before. Coach Morris departed at the right time. But the reality is his style, structure, and eye for talent would have had this program eating others alive at this point given the financial Wild West college athletics is today. I like JD as a man. But he makes Gino look like the second coming of Bruce Bochy.

This team had a giant horseshoe up their *** as far as their hot streak went. Glad for the boys but it saved JD’s job and that’s not hyperbole. This team is not even close to competing for a top 3 ACC spot week after week.

Waiting till 2027 will be another death nail for this program.

He brings nothing to the table. Our pitching is and has been average at best under him and he’s had a reputation as a lazy recruiter for many years now. And now he doesn’t want to embrace NIL? That tells me he’s not serious about being an actual contender.

You named two sports that aren’t baseball. Let me know what they are doing in baseball…. I’ll wait….. oh wait there’s nothing to wait for because they are irrelevant in baseball now

Let me know how many schools have 15 arms in the minors and 3 in the majors…….

From what I hear Evans is frustrated with his nil deal renegotiations. Other schools i’m sure would love a lefty up to 94 with offspeed. Jd needs to be smarter.

I agree to a degree.

I believe the proper way of articulating many frustrations and validating the lack of talent argument is the amount of elite talent, or in our case the lack of elite talent and depth we’ve had. I’m not saying some of our guys have not had successful careers or aren’t on a path to such. But the reality is there’s thousands of Milb players on rosters every year. The majority are there not because their contract club sees them as future MLB roster guys, but instead as warm bodies needed in order to play for the guys they have expectations for. There’s obvious exceptions but for the most part it’s true.

If we had the talent and depth we would not have been sub .500 two years ago. I understand good fortune is part of sports but sans a lot of it during the hot streak this past season they would have been sub .500 yet again. Anyone who watched during that streak saw some awful baseball quite often from the opponent.

If I’m wrong I’ll be happy and the first to admit it. But there’s been zero from JD and his organizational traits to suggest a change at every level and component of the program.

And we are juat as irrelevant. And again, you are clueless about our NIL spending. Literally, have no idea what you are speaking on.

Yeah, they have big NIL money. They went 20-33...... You read headlines, I do research, and know what I'm talking about. They spend their money on Football and Softball. But you can keep believing and telling yourself that they still invest in baseball.
