Toxic Program

You're just saying that because we couldn't punch it in from 2 yards away in 15 attempts.

And that is why I can’t include Gattis in the Good category. He shouldn’t get credit to do what he should have done already. Then going turtle in key short yardage situations multiple times in the game.

Same with TVD. He had a good game passing, but started slow, made some bad decisions in handoffs and not throwing the ball away that cost us time and yards, and still needs to earn his way back from “not trusting his receivers” — he didn’t build that trust over the offseason, that’s on him as QB1…

The defense has done enough so far this season, by today’s standards of defenses.. to help this team be 5-0 in my honest opinion.

Our record is all on the coaches and players (offense)

I dont think steele is the largest issue w the D and thought we played well once we made adjustments.

I think steele is gone anyways regardless of results. it felt like he was a backup option we kinda found out of near retirement
He was moving into his office as Maryland's DC .... not sure why everyone keeps repeating this found him in the retirement dumpster nonsense.

4-1. You can't give up 3 tds of 60 plus yards in a game and expect to win. They played well enough against aTm that if we let TVD air it out like he did yesterday, we win. He didn't "get hot" yesterday. We let him do what he is comfortable doing. It's not different than refusing to put Brock Berlin in the shotgun. He was a different qb in the shot gun. When FSU put Charlie Ward in the shot gun he led to to a natty and won the Heisman.

Mediocre former players like this clown calling for coordinator firings 5 games into their tenures

Mario has his work cut out for him because there are a ton of fundamental issues here beyond Gattis being unable to punch the ball into the endzone from the 2 yard line.

Colin McCarthy is an idiot. He was a douchebag when he was on campus(He was a selective bully though, still remember him backing off of someone at the Rat because it doesn't take a social butterfly to have backup), nice to see that he's still the same jackass years later. Amazing that Colin, who couldn't tackle if his life depended on it when he played, is already whining about a highly respected, highly successful DC, when it is beyond obvious that the talent on the defensive side is craptacular. Now, we can point to individual play calls that didn't make sense, but we can do that with every single DC in the country, after every game. The fact that Miami gave up 27 points to a team that averages 42 and still lost despite our QB throwing for almost 500 yards sounds more like an offensive issue than anything. The D did more than enough to win last night's game, inefficiency in the red zone and stupid turnovers ultimately led to the loss.

That said, yes, this program is toxic. It has always been this way, and unfortunately, I don't ever see it changing. The problem is that I don't know if this University or any University can consistently win despite the idiots that surround and allegedly support it.

Steele held a pretty high flying offense down most of the game and kept the game so close that even our offense that figured out that the pass was the key to winning in that 2nd wuarter was allowed to keep it within grasp

Other than coverage busts that I’m going to pin on the DBs it was a “good” performance with Dline pressure and takeaways

Tennesse is running the Briles Baylor offense. Let me know if you see them go 3 straight plays from the 2 with all 11 players cramned in the box and run it up the center's asd. They would have spread it out and the RB would have walked into the endzone
Oh yeah, I don't disagree with you

We shot ourselves in the foot too many times yesterday. That was a very winnable game. Blame to be spread all over the place and plenty to go around.

Mediocre? Do mediocre players get drafted in the 4th round and play in the NFL? His career was cut short by injury.

Your right however my only pushback would be we can’t let anyone associated with this program think being 2-3 is even remotely okay. We haven’t even played the core of the schedule yet. If people want to call for heads, I can’t disagree. We are staring down the barrel of going 6-6. That is inexcusable to go worse then the HC we fired because he went 7-5.
Can’t argue with the game results but I believe we’ve got to give Mario time to right the ship. Firing coaches mid season usually doesn’t end well.

I agree that there's a lot of work to do, but a realist can say we haven't coached well nor played well through six weeks. both players and coaches failed there. it took five weeks and a blowout to mtsu at home to finally change what they were so stubborn to do even after watching it all during the spring summer and fall. it didnt need to be that. it was a lie when they said they'll tailor their stuff to the roster. we saw what a diff it makes. the roster has holes but no excuses as to why we can't put the roster in better spots. TVD Looked more like the QB we saw end of the year nearly instantly and guess what? he even hit the 300+ 3 td mark again. the d has its warts roster wise which I put on Manny.
That’s a reasonable take. I don’t think they intentionally lied maybe just didn’t know the roster well enough until bullets started flying. Not making excuses, which I never do, just a little insight as to the cause of what we’ve seen so far.

5 games into tenure calling for coaches heads is idiotic I agree. But when a former stud mike linebacker is questioning stuff your eyes and ears need to perk up a bit. This isn’t some accountant on cis calling for this. This is the captain of a miami hurricanes and tennesse titans defense calling this out. The dude knows the game like very few in this world. If he that’s concerned so should we
In what universe was this reality? Kid was average at best

Calling for a coach to be fired after five games is idiotic. As much as I’ve been down on the OC I’ve never said fire him. Ive been saying for years this fanbase, local coaches and the alums make this as toxic of a situation as you’ll find at any level of sports. You must find a happy medium to kiss the right asses or they’ll turn on you. That’s been my reason why this job is so hard, especially in the social media , microwave era.
UNC offense was completely shut down in the 2nd half. Two picks, only 6 points and less that 100 yards passing.

He was drafted in the 4th round. Was 2nd team all acc. And finished his short but successful NFL career (4 seasons) with 3 FF and 3 ints with a defensive touchdown.

If he was average at best what has every linebacker been since then minus Denzel P?
