Toxic Program

I'm sure Steele was the one who told Kam to jump a short route when he was in deep cover 2.

And told the players to miss tackles over and over again.

He had one terrible call all game when he dropped Harvey into coverage on a big 3rd down. But other than that most of the mistakes on D were on the players.
Cb’s get a lot of heat ( deservingly so) but the safeties stay blowing coverage and missing tackles every game. Way too much freelancing. Sorry bruh but you aren’t Ed Reed. Play your assignments.

To be fair, if Harvey did his job, then that call would have been fine.

His responsibility was the flat, and yet, his eyes were so locked on the quarterback, he completely missed the RB run right by him. How he ended up that wide open is insane to me.

Come in dude after five games? Not even the majority of lunatics on message boards turn like that lol.
I dont think steele is the largest issue w the D and thought we played well once we made adjustments.

I think steele is gone anyways regardless of results. it felt like he was a backup option we kinda found out of near retirement

I love Kam, but man I think he’s responsible for at least 2 TDs in the last 2 games.

When your 2-3 on a 3 game losing streak including to a team that’s been blown out the last 2 weeks (MTSU) ..nothing is off the table. That’s part of the problem. We are so use to just being bad that we see silver linings in everything now.
Depends on one’s perspective - optimist, realist, pessimist. An optimist sees all the positives. A pessimist sees all the negatives. The realist (me) realizes there’s a lot of work to do after 2 decades of mediocrity and sees the good and the bad with proper perspective.

I agree that there's a lot of work to do, but a realist can say we haven't coached well nor played well through six weeks. both players and coaches failed there. it took five weeks and a blowout to mtsu at home to finally change what they were so stubborn to do even after watching it all during the spring summer and fall. it didnt need to be that. it was a lie when they said they'll tailor their stuff to the roster. we saw what a diff it makes. the roster has holes but no excuses as to why we can't put the roster in better spots. TVD Looked more like the QB we saw end of the year nearly instantly and guess what? he even hit the 300+ 3 td mark again. the d has its warts roster wise which I put on Manny.

Your right however my only pushback would be we can’t let anyone associated with this program think being 2-3 is even remotely okay. We haven’t even played the core of the schedule yet. If people want to call for heads, I can’t disagree. We are staring down the barrel of going 6-6. That is inexcusable to go worse then the HC we fired because he went 7-5.

Watching Tennessee beat LSU yesterday, reminded me of 2 years ago when many CIS comrades thought we were "at least ahead of Tennessee. "
Makes me believe that a lot can be done in a couple of years with the right staff (and them bringing in the right players).
I'm definitely not ready to call for a coordinators head at this time, but Tennessee seems to have turned the corner. Hopefully Mario, Zo, and Rad will absolutely make the right moves for the future of this program. Do I believe it CAN happen? Yeah. Do I believe it WILL happen? 🤔 🤷🏾‍♂️
Tennesse is running the Briles Baylor offense. Let me know if you see them go 3 straight plays from the 2 with all 11 players cramned in the box and run it up the center's asd. They would have spread it out and the RB would have walked into the endzone

You never, ever say “fire him.” Always be supportive and love him, encourage him to reach for the stars, yes, aim for a HC job somewhere…

Cursed. The Downs TD was the latest example that we play on sacred Tequesta burial grounds and the universe is against us.

Agree, but it will be worse, my brother. Unless the improvements we saw in this loss continue to be built upon, to have an upward trajectory, we’re staring at a 2-8 or whatever barrel. Look, I’m all in on Mario, and whatever he does here, I have faith it’ll be better than the last 20 years, but game day, I want to see effort and smarts from our trenches, mismatched or not. That is what he has preached since he got here. That is what I see from all of our opponents, even Bethune Cookman. Somehow, our players play like cold wet noodles. They are lethargic in the first two quarters (perhaps they’re channeling Gattis &Steele?). That needs to be fixed.

Yes, we played well enough on defense to win. Our problem is we move the ball up and down the field, but can't score.
You're just saying that because we couldn't punch it in from 2 yards away in 15 attempts.

Two fg’s in the second half. They also got multiple takeaways in the first half. It wasn’t all bad.
Don’t understand why this is even a conversation. Before the game, everyone knew UNC behind Maye would drop 60+ with 650+ yards of offense while mailing it in the 4th quarter.

The D certainly wasn’t perfect, but they held their own.
