I thought it should have been a safety. Illegal forward pass in the end zone.

Giving yourself up as a runner is allowed IF YOU TAKE A KNEE.

Although probably not a bad ruling given that its a playoff game, but the league should take a moment to clarify that to the players next week. IMO its no different than faking a clock play (QB spiking the ball after the snap) and throwing it to a wide receiver. If dude would have taken off running it would have been legal.
