Torretta/Highsmith

Gino has been very successful in business including being a prior President of the Alumni Association.
Last time I saw him I think he was working for Mario Gabelli. I don’t know Gino but Mr. Gabelli does and he sent me in his direction for a meet and greet. I could be way off on that one.

I like the idea because UM football is different from other programs. But has this ever been a thing at another university? I guess I'm just baffled at how they don't just fire Blake and bring in a real AD who knows how to run an entire athletics program. I mean if it takes Alonzo coming in here as GM of football to get us back moving forward I'm all for it.....just seems odd to me that we can't do it the normal way.

UM must maintain consistency.

For the love of God, go out there and find an AD who is experienced and qualified for the job. Just because you love UM or are a former player doesn't mean you'll be successful. I have no doubt that Manny Diaz loves UM but he's a horrible coach.

The culture needs to change. You can't do that unless you start anew.

Whether it's a highly intelligent former player (during the elite years) or a new AD that has no ties to the program, we need someone that understands intimately just how special Hurricane Football was...and exactly what it takes to achieve that level of greatness.

What we have now in the office appears to me to be really feeble, failing massively on every level and totally lacking understanding what it takes to be a perennial powerhouse (at the absolute highest level). Canes Football is about greatness, pride, toughness & achieving what is unattainable for most mere mortals. What a special thing it can be. Just think how special it was to:

1) Go undefeated at home for 58 games in a row (spanning about a decade). That's amazing and included many victories over teams ranked #1-10 in the country.

2) Win 5 (really 6) MNCs over about a 20 year span. We dominated the sport at a time when there were many super high quality contenders every year in the top 20 (unlike today where you have four perennial powerhouses and then everyone else).

3) Have rosters filled with 17 first rounders (including some of the greatest ever at their positions -- like Reed and Gore).

Canes football was unbelievably great. We need an AD that really understands that & what it takes. What we got now has no clue IMHO what it takes.

Gino is the former player that BJackson referenced wanting the AD job.

He would crush it. Would raise 5x what Blake has. Have Gino add Highsmith as Head of Football Operations or Asst AD of Football Operations.

Time to put together a list of BOT, influential boosters, and important media Twitter handles and let it be known that Frenk/James need to go. Cut the head off this snake and add Hurricane royalty to the Athletic department.

If people want to add handles of people that should be included I will update/add this first post.

Gino is one smart man , very successful investor. Took advantage of all his opportunities his scholarship offered didn’t have many tools of his own to work with.
Gino did one thing like no other he was a burning with passion a warrior. He knew his job was to put the balll into his playmakers hands and sacrificed himself unselfishly in doing it.

He trained so hard in how to distribute to playmakers and Dorsey and others followed in Gino’s footsteps.

Gino is #1st class all in type of person.

Also one of the forgotten hero’s of the University of Miami.

If you ever talk with him LISTEN

Dan Morgan would be our alum most qualified to be AD.

Daniel Thomas Morgan, Jr. (born December 19, 1978) is an American football executive and former linebacker who is the assistant general manager for the Carolina Panthers of the National Football League (NFL). He previously served as the director of player personnel for the Buffalo Bills and as the director of pro personnel for the Seattle Seahawks.
He's this close to being an NFL GM. Those guys make $1.5M+ a year. The typical ACC AD makes $700-1.5M
