I say, put top NFL coordinators to the top of the list. They currently earn considerably less than NFL head coaches, but are poised for promotions. They are critical in NFL success; look at the job former coordinators are doing with the Jets and Falcons. I am sure that a top coordinator could be hired within UM's budget. And, what a way to build a coaching reputation. Come to UM, recruit on the basis of your NFL credentials, coach based on your professional expertise, win big and then take an NFL HC job, a la Butch Davis. Coordinators at New England, Arizona, Cincinnati and Carolina might be ripe for the picking. The U is about putting players in the NFL. So why not bring in a NFL coach?
