Top hs recruits as true frosh TE stats

Some comparisons:

2016 Njoku - 43 rec 698 yds 8 td, Herndon 28 rec 334 yds 3 tds (This is crazy production in retrospect!!!)
2017 Herndon - 40 rec 477 yds 4 td
2017 Freshman All Americans: Bushman (BYU) 49 rec 520 yds, Bryant (WAS, only played 8 games but averaged for 13) 36 rec 533 yds

I agree that TE is not a position that naturally lends itself to early production from true freshmen, but I think come October Jordan/Mallory will be contributing in meaningful ways.

If we can get them and Irvin to combine for 60 rec 600 yds 6 tds we will have solid production from the position, and multiple weapons to attack in red zone/short yardage. Speaking of which, I think 3rd Down & Red Zone efficiency improvements would be what we need to get into the playoffs.

Biggest 2018 wildcards & new additions that can help us in red zone/3rd down:

Lawrence Cager
Realus George
Robert Burns
Brevin Jordan
Will Mallory

Depends on who the QB is. Just a hunch, but I think Rosier won't target TEs very much. He's timid with throws across the middle. I expect disappointing production from our TEs if he starts, no matter how good they are.

I think Williams will target them more as he can actually see the field, and go through progressions quickly. A TE can be a young QB's best friend, and an accurate, heady QB a TE's best friend.

Actually surprised Herndon had that many catches. Production from the position certainly dropped from 2016 to 2017, and I think that's on Rosier. That's a big drop off.

Jordan and Mallory are both going to have a 5+ TD, 500+ yard season easy.

Berrios is the only player on the entire team that had over 500 receiving yards last season but somehow two freshmen tight ends will both top that?

I know you guys are sick of the screen passes to Dayall Harris but wait until we start running a screen to Brevin Jordan. Dude runs like a RB and is a YAC monster like our last two tight ends. He will obliterate those numbers.
