Top 5 coaches who would come to Miami

I know there is a lot of fan support for Butch, or at very least trying to find someone with Miami ties, but I will be paying attention closely to the state of Texas for the remainder of the season. If Strong gets fired, musical chairs might ensue -- Briles, Patterson, Sumlin, Herman, Morris and Kingsbury could all be on the move -- and I think the Canes could very likely end up with one of them.

Miami has a talented roster, plays in a comically weak conference, and is located in the best talent-producing area in the country.

Finding a talented, ambitious coach that wants to win should not be hard. A competent administration that isn't cheap would have no issue getting this fixed.

Mow down this list. Make em all say no.

Mark Dantonio
Gary Patterson
Kyle Whittingham
Butch Davis
Tom Herman
Mark Stoops
Chad Morris

Whittingham ain't leaving Utah (religious reasons). I like your list except for Stoops and Morris. Neither makes sense.

For Stoops, he needs to show me something. I haven't seen it. One quality win to date, last week.

For Morris. Can this guy coach an offense? Absolutely. But now he is the HC of a whole program, so now you evaluate everything. This is why it is important for first time HCs (Morris) to be evaluated AFTER the whole season once they take an HC gig. Granted SMU is coming off a 1-11 (1-7) season in 2014 and the talent is poor I would hold off on Morris as a candidate. SMU has some nice games coming up with Houston, Memphis and Tulsa (Philip Montgomery) and the AAC has some good names this year.

Lane Kiffin
Mario Cristobal
Randy Shannon
Larry Coker
Mark Mangino

What's funny is Mark Mangino is the best coach on that list, but we'll keep seeing their names pop up. Smh

Is this a list of who you want as our next HC?

Not surprisingly, the mental midgets who still think Folden just might turn it around always have the worst lists of potential replacements. You dopey faqgits should stay out of any discussion on coaches or replacements.

My list starts and ends with a certain candy-colored Escalade riding guy with a long list of texts from former players that prove he's a great coach and, more importantly, a builder of men.

1 Obvious Choice.....Butch. Next Coach......waiting on staff

2. Mark Richt. The former Cane is a long shot, but he may be interested to come now, especially if he doesn't beat Bama on Saturday

3. David Shaw Can coach. Give him Miami's talent base and look out.............

4. I'll provide later

Butch Davis - Overrated Coach, great talent evaluator, old.
Tom Herman - Best choice, huge buyout at Houston and just got there. We should have hired him last year.
Rob Chudzinski - Perfect fit.

F*** a Top 5. The list should consist of two names: Tom Herman and Butch Davis.

The administration has caused Miami football to freefall from the most dominant, hated program in the country into a complete laughing stock. Open the checkbook, hire a savage, and return to prominence.

I don't think Butch is overrated. I don't think anyone thinks he is Bill Belicheck. I think people see that be is the perfect fit for many reasons.
1) He wants the job badly
2) He has coached here before twice and knows the program well.
3) He is an excellent recruiter
4) He is unmatched as a talent evaluator
5) He develops talent
6)His name resonates with the young talent that have seen the 30 for 30. We would have to turn away studs because so many would jump at the chance to play for him.
7) He knows how to hire a staff. He always has great assistants.
8) Over the years he has improved tremendously as a game day coach.
9) Hiring Butch Davis would electrify the fanbase.
10) On top of all it all however...He has something to prove. Bringing us back for the 2nd time would be career defining and would cement him as a UM legend.

These Potatoes think that even though they slurped Golden seconds before the end of the Cincinnati game that their opinion matters now.

Get somebody that will use the talent surrounding the area and not pussify it

No thanks on Shaw.

You should have stopped after 1.

Unlike the last coaching search we had, I think we can garner some serious interest from excellent coaches. We have a roster full of talent. Is it Grade A MNC type of talent? Probably not, but it's easily 8-9 win type of talent with an excellent QB. I think any coach worth his salt would jump at that chance with a talent like ours, away from NCAA nonsense, etc.

I still can't get over the fact that people are nominating Kiffin and Mario as replacements? SMH

If Morris doesn't make sense to you for those reasons, then neither should Herman. They're both offensive gurus in their first season as HC.

Reread the post man.

Don't be part of the problem and suggest their names.

I wasn't suggesting their names man. I'm finding it funny people actually think they should he candidates. Except Mangino. If we can't get coach macho then I think we bring in Mangino and force him to wear an orange jumpsuit every single day.

If Morris doesn't make sense to you for those reasons, then neither should Herman. They're both offensive gurus in their first season as HC.

See below, here is a post I had on the WEZ...

Ignoring Butch, the three names I would have at the top of my list:

1. Chip Kelly: If he is available, you make him your #1 priority and you give him what he needs to build a staff. Everyone knows the guy, so there is no need to explain his background. Miami CAN afford him, if they decide to get real about football. If he gets fired, someone will take him ASAP. I can't see him going back to Oregon (this season) because they have Helfrich and he just went to the NCG. Even after last night, they won't fire him. Kelly is by far the best name, if available.

2. Justin Fuente: The reason I have 2 above 3 is because Fuente has put in 3 seasons as HC and inherited a chittier situation. For those that don't know, Memphis was a train wreck before he arrived. Memphis won 5 games combined in the previous 3 seasons before he arrived. They won 2 conference games during that time. They also finished last in their conference each of the seasons. Memphis was awful. This guy has the background, learning under Gary Patterson and is an offensive guru.

In 2014, he had an impressive season. He won 10 games, the conference and beat BYU in the bowl game. This season definitely warranted the spot-light as a prime coaching candidate. The question was in 2015, would he repeat the success. At 4-0, it appears he is on pace to have similar success. In fact, Memphis may be ranked going into Ole Miss.

I know people will complain about his defense, but in 2014 and 2013 Memphis had a good defense:

2014:
Scoring D: 11th (19.5 PG)
Total D: 27th (349.5 PG)

2013:
Scoring D: 44th (24.6 PG)
Total D: 39th (370.7 PG)

The difference in 2015, Memphis lost their DC to Missouri and had to replace 8 defensive starters. This is Memphis, it isn't exactly an easy thing to reload with quality talent. I wouldn't say these are "excuses" because he has won every game this season and 11 games in a row. Big games against Ole Miss and Houston. If Fuente wins the conference in 2015 with 10 regular season wins, he is a name that should be at the top of the list for Miami.

3. Tom Herman: Another great offensive mind and a first time coach. He already has a quality win going into UL and winning everything so far. Although he did inherit a better program (talent and status) than SMU and Memphis, he is performing on a very high level. His offense is putting up 45+PPG, very impressive. Although he seems to have the goods, I want to see how he performs against Tulsa and Memphis. If Herman is able to win the AAC in his first season and wins 10 games in the regular season. He would probably be near the top of my list for names for Miami.
