Why is he not on our sidelines? Because he is not a yes man. Get it? Mario would come down here and be just another coach, and I do not want that in this program. Just shut it down if we have to hire yes men because the AD is too weak to deal with a strong personality coach.

If the truth about distance is correct we might have had one of the 5 star LB's depending on what you believe on this board, and that is with Manny recruiting. Also, depending on what you read on this board Denis is a project and is not a plug and play type kid, which with our OL is what we need, see Nelson for example of trying to put weight on a guy and insert him before he is ready. Also, Shannon had the number 1 class as well at one point in his career. I will take the results on the field, how they develop the talent, and how the motivate the players to win. Just don't see Mario as the guy, but just a guy. That's just me though.

I’ve met the guy a couple of times. Mario is not a yes man. On a podcast here they called him a “brute.” Not saying he’s not intelligent, because he’s more than capable, but that’s one good description of Mario Cristobal, a fvckin brute.

Not excusing anything, not sure where you are reading that in my post. We have failed on most fronts in recruiting for years, nothing new, but one project OL is not going to make or break us. Denis would be a great take with some solid guys in the fold. However, continuing to bring in underdeveloped players will produce underwhelming results. You know this as well as anyone Sandman

If the BoT/AD wants him, which they seem to, he is a yes man. They have not hired anyone that is not one since they got rid of Butch, it is not in their M.O.

Brute has nothing to do with intelligence, it is toughness. He was a great player for us and a brute, no doubt, I will not take that from him. As a player I have great respect for him and his contributions to UM. As a coach, no, I do not want him here, at least as the head coach.

Then based on your argument, Cristobal will never coach here because he’s not a yes man. It’s a big reason why he was fired at FIU.

Oh, okay thanks, and here I thought it was due to his sheer incompetence as a coach. You know, the 3-9 record in his final season. But you cleared it up for me, I'm now okay with a coach that has the playoffs in his grasp but loses to a 5-5 team and gets eliminated.

Mario is a system guy, yes man, whatever you want to call it. Our Bot/AD is the reason we do not have Mullen, the Pirate and others, for good or bad, due to control. They could not control JJ, and had trouble with a guy like Butch. They do not want to be in a position like that again. Sad thing is we will not win again until we have that personality, Mario is not it.

Except bringing in no one is worse.

I thought I’d fill you in about the guy. You may not like him as a head coach, which is fine, but i’m telling you he’s not a yes man. As for the rest of your diatribe, ok.

Well we do have two OL's committed, and apparently dropped another due to grades. In this day and age the portal will have to come through due to incompetence in recruiting. Time will tell with Denis, but I am not sure if I agree with your statement. Yes, we need numbers, but do we really need guys that are not Miami quality (not saying this is the case with Denis or not, but in general like your statement)?

2 ols given our needs is a face plant. We needed 4 for sure.

as for denis, no strong view here but i will trust mario over our clown squad on evals at that position.
