Mario Cristobal and the Miami Hurricanes just wrapped up on one the biggest recruiting weekends in the month of June. Top prospects around the country visited and participated in the Hurricanes' Legends Camp in Coral Gables.
One of the top prospects in attendance flew out from Utah to participate in the camp. Four-star wide receiver Dennis Tua'one spoke highly of the Hurricanes program after camping out all weekend. He is a 6-foot-1, 190-pound receiver.
According to the 247Sports Composite Rankings, he is rated as a four-star prospect and one of the top wide receivers in his class, ranking No. 11 at his position and No. 3 in Utah. Dennis holds over a dozen Power Five offers, including Miami, Arizona State, BYU, Nebraska, Michigan, Oregon, USC, Oklahoma State, Penn State, Tennessee, and UCLA. The upcoming junior at Timpview High School totaled 33 receptions for 641 yards and five touchdowns last season, while also throwing for 872 yards and four touchdowns at quarterback.
What was your biggest takeaway from today’s camp?
My biggest takeaway was just competing against top talent and proving I belong with the best. The energy was high, and it pushed me to raise my level every rep.
How was it working with the Miami coaching staff, and did they give you any feedback?
Working with the Miami coaching staff was great. Coach KB [Kevin Beard] coached hard, taught real details, and kept the tempo up. They told me they like my size, how I move, and how I finish plays. They also said they can see me fitting into what they’re building.
What stood out most about Miami during your visit?
What stood out the most was the culture and the standard. Everything is fast, competitive, and intentional. You can feel that they’re serious about getting Miami back to the top.
Did the camp impact your recruitment at all?
The camp definitely made an impact on my recruitment. Being around the U again, competing on campus, and seeing how they operate just made the connection stronger.
What’s next for you in your recruiting process?
Next for me is continuing to compete, keep building relationships with the every staffs recruiting me, and take a few more visits this summer. I want to make sure I’m seeing the right places and finding the best fit.
Coming off the camp, where does Miami stand in your recruitment right now?
After this camp, I can definitely say they’re sitting in that top 3–5 range for me. It’s still early to lock in anything because I’ve got a lot of summer left, but being the first camp I’ve hit, it made a big impact on my board. I’ve got more visits and camps coming up, so I want to see how everything feels and which place really feels like home.
