This game was an embarrassing horror show to have watched. I was there it looked worst in person. It was a total "bag over your head" type of embarrassment. It was shocking how many areas of improvement are needed for this team

There is plenty of blame to go around from top to bottom including many of the players. Rosier and Feagles , weak OL stand out but they weren't alone. Banda's exit seem to take away our defensive aggressiveness. It was a complete and total team breakdown.

Let's face the fact that we overrated this team's abilities and completely underestimated LSU and Orgeron. I've got to admit that I was totally shocked by how we were out coached and out played on both sides of the ball. Despite any injuries they had, they were able to overcome them and we were unable to take advantage of any of our strengths. or any of their weaknesses. We looked weak and confused. This strong dose of reality exposed where we really are.

Nothing we can do about this humiliating loss now. It already happened. All the woulda's, coulda's, shoulda's now are meaningless or what we should have done in the past serve no purpose except to promote someone's long held agenda

I'm sure the coaches are aware of the many areas of improvement needed. Some of these areas can/will change, others won't or would cause greater harm than good if done on the fly ....I.E.
  • Richt isn't going to leave or be let go anytime soon,..nor should he. Richt has his faults and a poor game like this should make a smart man realize that changes are needed IF we are to ever progress to the next level beyond where he's taken us already. We'll see how he adjusts and corrects what is needed
  • We probably won't get an OC this season, although Richt should being eyeing his own son's complete inability to develop our QB's. Improvement in these area are imperative.
  • Diaz will be here at least through this season. Even though I've long held that the better teams have his number down flat
Some may not like this, but it is highly doubtful that any of those happen this year. Im as angry as anyone but the fact is, this team has to and can only improve with what we already have on board. Speculation about what we need in the future is good but for now we have to dance & compete with what is already here.

We'll see if it is within this team to dig down and do what is necessary for us to still win the Coastal and get to the ACC championship game. Better this fiasco happen now than later in the season.

Again, LSU has brought us to a program defining moment. We can either tuck tail, point fingers and cry or do what it takes to improve.

I'm not yet ready to panic, or give up .....and I seriously doubt that this team and it's staff are either. Let's see what Richt and the team does the rest of this year. I'm still with the Canes 100%

Agree completely with everything said. We all sold LSU short, but have to admit they are a mid level SEC team that will lose to Bama, Ga, Auburn, and Tex AM, and possibly Fla. Shows also how outmanned along line of scrimmage we are at this point.

What Rosier was looking at on several those plays is mind boggling and why CMR kept in whole is the same. Changes got to made in the next few cupcake games in order to have much chance of beating teams with a warm pulse down the road.

“I'm sure the coaches are aware of the many areas of improvement needed”

After a two year sample size...there is zero evidence that statement is true.

"Let's face the fact that we overrated this team's abilities and completely underestimated LSU and Orgeron. "

Completely disagree. At least for me, LSU is EXACTLY who I thought they would be. Plodding, non threatening offense and a stout defense. Try to run the ball, don't turn the ball over, control the clock, and lean on your d. Their qb was 11-24 for 140 yards.

We were just awful. Really bad. LSU will lose 3-5 games.

Its four games over two seasons.

The last two games...against Wisconsin in the bowl game and in Game 1 against LSU...came with long layoffs and the result looked like a team that didn't prepare. Thats pretty damning.

The issue isn’t this game. The issue is it’s more of the same problems. All the same stuff we complained about last year. All the stuff that cost us games last year. So this game just reinforced to everyone that nothing has changed and that we can expect the same bullshi from last year

They had an entire camp to fix the same problems from last year and didn’t fix a single one! Kicking, Punting, 3rd downs, qb plays, creative play calling, tackling, stupid penalties. I could go on....

OK maybe it's better said that we completely overestimated our ability to stop LSU's "Plodding, non threatening offense" and our ability to move against their "stout defense".

Either way we overestimated our abilities, and underestimated theirs and while they may have been awful.....we played even worse.

LSU came prepared to play a tough game, just saying ...we didn't seem ready at all.

That was the most embarrassing loss since the Clemson game. Period. That is two 4 game losing streaks since Richt has been here. My fear is he is too arrogant to take a step back and realize he is not perfect and he needs to change things up. He didn't get it done at UGA and if he keeps holding onto his rigid philosophy of how to coach he won't do it here either. I had hoped him getting fired would make him realize this was a chance to change things, go for broke, and take chances. If you get fired, there is a reason. Reflect, admit you don't know it all, and accept that at least some portion of your approach has to change. Thought he would do that, but beginning to think maybe not. Oh yeah .... and Malik SUCKS, so put him on the bench and let's try something else.

I agree with most everything you said OP . I knew going into this game it would be a blow out either way . I wasn't wrong. I thought the score would be 30-13 either way and again I was about right. Miami just needs a better QB and better Oline play . We have great WR , RB , LB , a really good secondary and some great Dlinemen but you cant win against top 20 teams when you QB is 15-35 or has 0-2 TD/INT ratio and when the line cant block. We will get better and I wouldn't be surprised none the less to see us not lose again til Clemson but we have issues.

Also Feagles either needs to step up or be replaced as he was a huge part of why we were down so much at half. Our D played well honestly for most of the game but was put in a horrible spot all first half due to him. You cant shank your first 4 punts .

Exactly.

Message board heroes on here and other Canes boards do this almost every year. This year it was tough talk about how back we are and how LSU was ****.

Simply stated, with a QB like Rosier, I was never EVER going to be confident, much less against a top 2-3 $EC defense. What I didn't expect was for the entire coaching staff and almost entire team to **** down their own legs.

This, What self-respecting program allows rhis kind of negligence?

L$U QB was sub 500 w no TDs

We had WRs and TEs open ALL GAME LONG.

Our calls are either run or deep pass.

Our def is either soft zone, zone blitz or all out blitz.

L$U LITERALLY did nothing to win this game. That pick 6 Rosier threw had nothing to do w tipping the ball at the L.O.S; he was throwing that int regardless b/c he can’t read a defense or go through progressions. How often was Brevin opened? Where was the bubble screens? Slants? Wildcats?

I appreciate u trying to pick up the board and pointing out that it’s one game, but it’s not. 4 games in a row, and this team looks deflated and lost. What happened to getting DeeJay and Homer on the field at the same time?

We don’t have a young team anymore. This is a team full of Juniors and Seniors and NOOOOOOOOOTHING has changed, like at all. So no, I’m not blaming this on one game.

I just read what Richt said after the game and he said “we did some things good and we did some things not so good.” What does that even mean?? He further went on to say, “the good thing is we made it a little competitive at the end!” Wtf??! No we didn’t. L$U took their foot off the gas!

I don’t want that type talk from a coach! Say, we totally missed some opportunities and we’re fixing that tomorrow! Say I feel bad for the players b/c we worked our butts off not to play like this, but as their coach, imma fixed this so this don’t happen again. What he gave me was Golden talk and that’s scary.

Sorry, you make some great points that cannot be refuted, but reality here isn't an "overreaction"...this squad wasn't anymore prepared for the beginning of this season than they were the end of last season.

The weakness of the defense? Up the gut where I knew it would be despite some pretty **** good play by Willis. Offense...lol...wow...the OL was even worse than what I had imagined...and when they were good (rare) cue the Malik collapse.

Agree Richt is going nowhere and also agree he isn't going to get less hard headed. I had no doubt what one specific post game comment would involve....we fought and played our way back into the game.'

Bottom line Coach...time to do something that makes you a little uncomfortable. Play a young QB that appears to give a ****. He will make mistakes, the OL you have "coached" will likely still be mediocre at best...but start looking toward next year and be willing to lose games due to youthful exuberance and lack of experience versus lack of ability and lethargic gameplay.

We shall see. There is ZERO reason to play Rosier any longer...Zero...except for fear. If you and your son are actually coaching these other QBs properly, show us. Let them have the live fire experience before next year when they have to perform.

Please don't do the same old thing and put Rosier hack in to gain all the accolades for Savannah State, etc....use those games to get Weldon or Perry ready.

I agree.

Wish and am extremely disappointed as anyone that we didn't show improvement in those areas.

But we are limited to the personnel we currently have on board. I do think that this is another wake up call that whatever changes ....were made they are not nearly enough and something more must be done.

I don't think that Richt is stupid and I think he wants to win. Any comparison with Golden is scary but I don't think he's in that category.

Let's see if this embarrassing loss lights a fire under him and he finally wakes up. I think its within his capacity to change.

We'll see

What this game showed me is Eicht's inability to diagnose a problem and make a change to address said problem. You know, kinda the reason he was fired at his last gig. I had no confidence in him coming in, and I have none now, and this guy is supposed to be an offensive guru ? My jazz. The man can't change, I think that's obvious, give him a shytload o talent he'll win some games, that's about it, not creative, can't play to his strengths, hard headed, stuck in the 80's, prolly still listens to Madonna. I have seen enough, actually had seen enough last year, we will never win big with Richt period

Man every time I look at him he looks like he needs to lay down, I really doubt anything will lite a fire under him
