His dad played for BYU, so I’m guessing Tosh is Mormon. Either need a Polynesian coach or a Mormon on staff (it’s why Leach was actually rather successful with landing Polynesian kids). If you don’t have one of those, don’t even bother recruiting Polynesians. Would be a giant waste of time.

Obviously some of you never set eyes on Lupoi because you would know instantly he is not poly.
We will see how Topui is feels after his official visit. These families don't take committing lightly and seldom flip because they don't like going back on their word. Believe me, I would love to pair him with Johnson. All of the sudden, we are looking like a top SEC D with those kids and Scott. Knock on wood, a healthy Horton and that looks like a Championship interior. LFG Keiki and JT.

Just keep in mind Miami has only 2 Polynesians on the team, with one most likely leaving after this season. I’m aware we hired of GM that he himself is Polynesian, but w/ all due respect, he’s coming from a program w/ very little to no success recruiting top/blue chip Polynesian prospects.
We’re facing an incredible uphill battle w this one:
1. Coming from a premiere Nike HS school that’s a notorious Nike feeder program
2. Committed to a school that’s one of Mater Dei feeder schools that has an absurd amount of Polynesians coached by a guy who’s an adopted Uso (Tosh Lupoi)
Just remember it was Big Joe that got the Mauigoas come to UM, & in this case having Big Joe would be a Big Plus being that he would be his coach.
Swing for the fences, but be pleasantly surprised if we can pull this off. It also doesn’t help we’re trying to recruit from a mercenary school whose top players always choose the winning programs. Saving grace is Mario’s relentless behavior + a follow up great season.
