Tom Herman to interview at South Carolina next week

We are told Tanner tentatively is going to meet with Tom Herman Monday or Tuesday of next week. The absolute date remains fluid because of Herman’s schedule. His team plays Navy Friday and with a win will move on to the AAC Championship game the next Saturday. That would likely delay the process until after that game is played.

Sounds like the raise isn't going to be enough to keep him, he's looking to move into a bigger program.
 
need Herman to beat navy so this interview gets delayed a week. Maybe the search committee will have it down to 30 names by then

Did he sign any extension? I think Memphis is offering one to Fuente but I don't think either will stay at their current programs.

He didn't. In fact he said when he received the extension that he was flattered but that he was not going to do any contract negotiations until after to see it was over with. In other words, he gone
 
I hope we're not dragging our feet with this search and it's just quiet because nothing like this has been leaked on our end.

Herman hasn't been offered anything yet but Houston has been saying that they were working on getting him to 3 million a year in hopes of keeping him. I never thought that amount would be enough to keep him at Houston.

No way BOT is hiring Herman instead of Butch. They need a big splash. If not Butch, then will have to be a big fish like Chip, who i would not take over Butch but understand why some would. Except for his devotees, Herman is a bait fish. First year head coach at backwater school. Yes, yes, when he was OC to Urban ..... He is not the first who can say that. Does he sell season tickets the da after he is hired and open checkbooks of mid-level donors? Or do most people think about Golden being one of the "often mentioned" names. Yes, he is much better coach than Al. But who isn't?
 
IF we truly want to try and get someone for the long haul then Herman is the guy. There are no guarentees he stays more that 4 years but its a possibility and more real than Butch staying more than 4 years just because of age alone.

I would sign him to 5 years 20M with a 10M buyout clause.
 
Herman is leaving Houston.

His stock could never go any higher than it is right now.
 
Herman is the biggest splash you can make.

Offer him 4 mil per year for 5 years.
 
He has a much better chance of winning in the ACC at Miami than at a middle tier SEC school with no recruiting base.
