Houston coach Tom Herman definitely seems to be the top choice to replace Steve Spurrier at South Carolina. But insiders tell GN that another SEC school also is interested in Herman, and that is Missouri.

Missouri’s athletic director is Mack Rhoades — the guy who hired Herman at Houston last December. Rhoades left Houston for Missouri in March.

Missouri coach Gary Pinkel announced Friday he was resigning at the end of the season for health reasons, and that means Rhoades can actively seek a replacement.

looks like Mizzou could have the inside track for Herman.

Tom Herman could be in play for Mizzou

Why the f**k would anyone want to go near Missouri with the political climate at that school?

All indicators are that Herman is our #1 choice.

Unless USC or Texas decide to set their sights on Herman, then there's no reason why Miami can't get him. If Herman ends up at Missouri or South Carolina, it'll be because our hopelessly incompetent administration didn't make him a top priority.

If we end up with Strong, Chud, or Mario after Mizzou or USCe lands Herman, then we will have failed in spectacular fashion.

So it isn't even a possibility that this guy has no interest in Miami?

Aside from a delusional fan base here, there has been zero talk about Herman and UM in the same vicinity.

None.

Same with Fuente. Nothing about Fuente and UM in the same conversation.

However, there HAVE been numerous references of these two coaches and other teams.

We get stuck with being TRYING to get a retarded Mario or a bold failure named Strong.

If Herman go to either Maryland, Missouri or South Carolina then he will have just committed HC suicide.

He can't/won't win big over long term at those places. Not enough talent, not big enough name to recruit nationally all while playing in tough conferences.

Right now, it should be USC, Miami or stay at Houston and wait for Texas.

****. Mizzou is my second team so would be nice but I would rather him at Miami. He may be a better fit at Mizzou. They already recruit TX very hard. Now knowing Mizzous new AD hired him at Houston last year makes me think he will be at Mizzou.

Boom to this. Finally someone who has been paying attention the last 10 years. We do this to ourselves EVERY time we have a coaching search. Herman isnt coming here and neither is Strong. Isnt he making 5-6M a year at UT? And Herman is a wishlist/pipe dream. He is the "Jon Gruden" of this go round...People will really convince themselves that he is legit interested only to be let down again. Our best bet is Butch.

To extent the same can be said about those who want butch

Butch is the beat option and if we do hire him every naysayer will eat there words, then they will say he wins because he has the best players. Which will be true lol

Herman has already been griping about the poor attendance at UH games, so it wouldn't surprise me if UM isn't at the top of his list.

did you even read this ---- Missouri’s athletic director is Mack Rhoades — the guy who hired Herman at Houston last December. Rhoades left Houston for Missouri in March.

Tom Herman is in play for every team in the NCAA except one...All the naysayers can eat it in three/four years if he goes to a new school, and you see what the "U" could have had....

I can promise y'all that things at Mizzou aren't nearly as bad as it is being reported. And I fully expect mizzou to put a full court press on Herman. The admin at Mizzou cares deeply about football and they understand that this hire can take Mizzou football to the next level.

They have a brand new stadium that seats 40K people. They have an undergrad enrollment of 35K people. He has a point ...

Miami plays in a 65K people stadium, and has 10K undergraduates. If Herman had us 10-0, there would be more than 40K in the stands ...

it surprises me that these guys don't realize how Miami is the only school out of all these jobs where you can become a Bama type program in terms of winning and getting a NFL job
