Todd Hartley to be special teams coach

LOL all the chicken littles annoyed bc I'm not doing the "shill for the new HC who was fired from UGA" shtick.

I have no loyalty to Richt. The guy is a career underachiever who needs an elite staff to compete. Hiring your former players and staff members of a team you were fired from, isn't exactly what I had in mind.

So Richt is going to coach every position? Do you understand how a football staff works? How practice works?

You need elite teachers of the game here. We have been missing that for over a decade. I'm tired of having a bunch of wet behind the ears assistants. Sick of it in fact. Mark Richt isn't some innovative Xs and Os guy. He needs an elite staff to win. He's not going to magically become a national title winning coach just bc he is now in Miami without an elite staff.

You see good coaches lead the sub ordinates. You know which coach has the most bust when they go on their own? Bill Bellicheck. They all end up failing, but they look like genius under Bellicheck. I can see why Richt wants younger guys on offense. Energetic recruiting and open to learning.

How many times does it need to be said that you don't hire coaches at the University of Miami for their recruiting ability? HOW MANY TIMES?

The problem here has not been recruiting you bumbling moron. The problem has been coaching. Sorry if I'm not excited about Howdy Doody getting his first Xs and Os position at the U.
 
Anyone who doesn't see this as an upgrade or a decent isn't looking at it realistically.


Who else would you have hired fully Ericht? What other special teams coordinators woild make a lateral move?

We got the recruiting coordinator at a top five recruiting school in a lax position where richt has been successful for years.


What the **** else did you expect for special teams coordinators and Co oc when richt is calling plays lmao
 
Hartley coached Safeties at Marshall for two years then TE's for two years. He was ST coach all for years and Recruiting Coordinator the last two as well. He mainly recruited Georgia and Jax down to Orlando for Marshall. Got quite a few commits for them. Graduated from Uga in 2008. Young and aggressive. Hired by Richt to be their RC before this season. Has had a lot of experience and responsibility for a young coach.

ATHENS ---- Todd Hartley, assistant coach and recruiting coordinator at Marshall University, has been named Director of Player Personnel at the University of Georgia by UGA head coach Mark Richt.

Hartley joined the Marshall staff in March, 2011, and served as the Herd's safeties coach for two seasons before being named tight ends coach and recruiting coordinator in March, 2013. A graduate assistant coach at Georgia in 2009, he was named "interim defensive backs coach" for the 2009 Independent Bowl. The Bulldogs won the game, 44-20, over Texas A&M - a team that entered the game with the nation's fifth ranked scoring offense.

"We've worked with Todd in the past at Georgia and he did an excellent job including his interim role with our defensive staff," said Richt. "He's a tireless worker and having served as recruiting coordinator and on-field coach in recent years he has a strong sense of what we are looking for in a student-athlete at Georgia."

Prior to his graduate assistantship at Georgia, Hartley served as an offensive quality control coach at West Virginia from May, 2008 to May, 2009, and as an offensive/special teams undergraduate assistant at UGA from 2006-08. He earned his B.S. in Health and Physical Education from UGA in 2008.

A native of Gray, Ga., Hartley is married to the former Jessica Spires and they have three children: son Tucker and daughters Tenley and Teagan.

Look, at this point, all I care about is who's going to coach on the other side of the ball. I'm not worried about offense; Miami was built on defensive savages since 83. We've been Candy Canes for the past 5 yrs. I can care less about a co-OC and ST coach....give me a savage S&C coach, DL coach, LB coach, and D-coodinator! If Richt fails in those areas, God bless his soul.

"That guy!" never seems to realize he is "That guy!" Richt has been in the business for 30 years. If he thinks a coach under him, that he has already worked with for a year or more, is ready to step up to the next level, I think we can trust him with that.

With Hartley coming, I think signs point to Martinez being hired. Harley was a defensive grad assistant under Martinez.

And here we go, dudes on here need to be the first one to complain about the new coach. This way they can pound chest for eternity if said coach fails. Rather than support the guy. Dude has not even fully named his fuggin staff and your already calling him out left and right. Has not even run ONE practice of his own..

Umm, maybe you should think about a hobby or maybe a new team. Looks like coach is going to be here for at least a few years. And that does not seem like it will be much fun for you. If your willing to give him the keys then give hime the **** KEYS!. Its his ship. If he runs it aground it will be obvious. **** as a fan base we are pretty accustomed at this point to picking up on a coach who is in over his head.

Say what you want about returns, they have pretty much blown. But ole AG could find a punter or kicker on the waiver wire like no one else! hahahahahaha.....
