But he is overrated and hasn't won the big one. There is always 1 to 3 teams who dominate an era... And no defense Riley ain't one of em.
With Les Miles taking the Kansas job, there are now 4 active coaches in all of college football who have "won the big one". Saban, Dabo, Jimbo and Miles. If your #1 criteria for coaching ability is winning the championship, Les Miles is tied with Jimbo Fisher for 3rd best coach in all of college football.

Then what's your criteria for a head coach? The dude has done everything BUT win a national title. And Riley is doing what a head coach is suppose to do, fix your flaws. And he hired a **** good defensive coach.

This reads like a politician trying to smear an opponent. No other facts or context you can think of when describing Lincoln Riley?

He's putting too much emotion into ranking coaches. A dude who's won his conference twice, two Heisman winners, 2-1 against his main rival, and has made the playoffs twice with one of the worse defense in college football. But dude is overrated, makes me laugh.

Good Lord, Kansas is football ****. Charlie Weis went to coach there. That ought to tell you something.

So, no, winning one championship that can’t be replicated sometimes doesn’t tell you anything long term about a coach

Time will tell and at what price.

What's enough money in program costs that is justifiable to win a natty?

$5MM, $10MM, $100MM, $1B?

What's the acceptable profit/loss to win a natty?

Big questions and big math all competing for a pool of limited resources across D1P5.
That's what society is about people are gullible.if there's a demand for it somebody will always ante up especially if there's other competitors bidding for it.look at how people react back in the day the cabbage patch dolls, beanie babies, black Friday etc.there's not a store on black Friday that doesn't have fist fights etc between customers over merchandise that they are paying full price instead of waiting until after Christmas to get the same merchandise 50-80% off.

Miami fans 'expecting' perfection are beyond unrealistic, you do not go from 7-6 to perfection, regardless of how much talent you think your 7-6 team had, "You are what your record says you are"
Urban took over a 6-6 taint team and immediately went 12-0. If not for sanctions, would have likely won the Natty.

We all would welcome him at Miami right now as our Head Coach so stop the he’s not worth that BS

We had and have plenty of talent too. We didn't have the offensive coaching to utilize that talent to match our defense

And thats why last years coach is gone...

Realistically this team wins 10 or 11 games next year... and hopefully keeps it respetable against Clemson...

This defense wont be elite like last year missing JoeJack/Willis/JJ in the back end

I mean I guess I'm a lil tough.. but I just think its extremely tough to be great coach if the objective is to win it all.. Just not many coaches do.. Now if you asking me is he a good coach? Sure.. But we are littered with those in college football... Those coaches who fix holes and win alot of games... I'm just saying the man ain't worth what they just paid him but don't let me tell it.

Lol you are proving my point. There aren't many great coaches. There are an abundance of good coaches. If the objective is to win it all then you at least have to win it all one time before I feel you should be labeled as great... We have many good coaches who fill holes and make corrections.. But a few great ones able to put it all together and win the big one . Just my opinion.

No smear campaign at all.. Riley seems like a excellent guy.. And no need for stats... He's been good at offense and bad at defense.. Keep it simple. To be great shouldn't we win at least one ring with your players first?? Like I've started previously, plenty of good coaches, amazing guys out there pushing to be great.. making proper adjustments.. But still just pretty good coaches.
