I'm not certain, at this point in time, I would take Riley over Diaz.

With that said, I'm not saying Manolo is going to match or exceed the success found at OU. I'm also equally going to say I'm.not certain Lincoln could recreate his "magic" here in SoFL either.

So far Diaz is doing all the right things, and proof is in pudding come Season 2-3.

He went 24-2 with mostly another coaches players. There’s a difference between being an assistant coach and a head coach. And part of that is lasting power. If he doesn’t have it, we will know in two or three years.

He could very well be the next great coach. That’s a real possibility. But it’s not a given.

At the moment, the only coach who has proven he is worth huge money is Dabo. He is the one who has taken on Saban head to head twice and won. But the money is so big at these schools that it has to flow somewhere. Ours is the only adminstration wpthat doesn’t seem to realize the value of winning.

I think they actually do. They just don’t have the same money or revenue as the big boys, but we are spending way more than we used to.

Sure had plenty of money to grossly overpaid for Donna’s medical acquisitions spree. M & A has been a speciality of mine for years. She paid stupid amounts for pure ego. They have money and always have.

That’s not how schools work. That money comes from a complately different place. Universities have silos that don’t intersect.

Yeah I get all that, I cut my teeth on Wall Street in 70’s doing M &A. Money is fungible whenever it needs to be and silos are fictions with purpose. That same crap bs is what cost us Howard because of the on campus stadium. We were getting the donations they said we needed when they pulled a fast one saying the donations could not come from ANY existing donors. They never thoguht we could raise the 50 million, once they saw we might, they took out the magic crap. Donna is a Clintonite. I garanteee you she got money from everywhere for those purchases.

Not sure want you call cook books. Some people think 2+2 = 4. Others, like me, know that it equals whatever you need it to be. As one CFO told me one day, “that’s what erasers are for”. Not to mention, we are a private school and answer to very little oversite- not that it matters anyway.

Listen, I think a read a very good explanation that I think you wrote a while back about university finance. It was solid description of the surface structure and valid up to the point where it doesn’t fit want they want to happen. Then things happen and little valves open for money to flow from one place to another — not illegal stuff just “smoothing” or whatever they want to call it. You are not wrong, just trusting. I don’t even trust myself.

I'm not saying Riley is a bad coach, but at almost $7MM/yr (incl incentives), the expectation is to win every game.

only thing stopping Oklahoma from winning every game is they're defense.he gets that figured out watchout.he's !let 4 games in two years plus made cfb playoff both years.which record would you prefer to have the last two years.ous or Miami's

To me, it's not about having X coach at Miami, it's about having the right coach(es) from top to bottom.

We thought Richt was it.

You didn't say anything about Riley being Miami's coach.you were saying that he beat by saban and a raise he got in your opinion wasn't warranted.Riley has been a hc for two years won two conference titles,had back to back playoff appearances .two heisman winners back to back as well.in two years he's done more than most coaches do in a career.Riley is a very good coach and qb developer h ed be just as good at any other big time power 5 school.nfl if he wants will his next gig not another college team.

Compare Bama’s campus today vs 10 years ago. The development over that period has been insane.
