Tito’s Tidbits Pt.2

SO, it is believed that Perryman will leave? Is this simply due to him having a child? Not being greedy or selfish for the program but I believe he would benefit from another yr of college! I know, I know... Everyone will say he aint getting any better under D'Onofrio. But I think he needs another yr and he will only improve his draft stock.

He'll be a 2-4 round pick if he comes back or not.

if he is later than a 3-4 round draft status, by his evaluation, he should come back. if he is in that 3-4 range, he won't improve his status by coming back. he may well be a 10 year nfl veteran, but, he doesn't have all the measurables and won't by coming back to be a 1-2 round type.
just my opinion.

Agreed... His height is not going to change.

I can't see Jc going back to FSU for the same reason Rudolph won't come back to Miami

I thought the same thing, Jackson to me has better upside at wr and unlike UM UF and FSU could easily put him at wr the day he signs his NLOI

If the kid wants to play DB, let him. We need more, I mean ALL the help on defense we can get. WR should be in great shape next year. Coley just cannot be covered and demand a lot of attention next year. Dude is everything we expected and all the other WRs will benefit from him. Lot of talent at WR coming in, so let's leave JC on defense -- he can score points on his picks.

Tito, I have a question concerning Perryman.

So many on here are saying he is leaving early, mainly because he just had a kid. Although some on here who say they know him or his family personally and he is not leaving what so ever. I also understand some might act like "insiders".

My question is, has anyone here (you, Pete, etc) talked to him specifically or is him leaving just speculation?

We've been hearing that since prior to the season even starting that there was a decent chance he would leave. His baby only added to the belief that he would leave.

Does DP have his degree, or will he by the end of next summer? If so, then I think its highly likely and probably makes sense for him to leave. If not, then I think its a mistake. NO KID should ever leave school early, before they have their degree, unless they are going in round 1 or 2, at WORST high 3, and looking to get a decent amount of guaranteed money and a contract. To do what someone like Tommy Streeter did is idiotic. What happens if you get to camp and blow out your knee? That 100K or 200K guaranteed is not going to go very far, and if you bust after a year, then what? You dont even have a degree.

Call me crazy, but I think its a mistake for any kid to leave early to go in the 4th round or worse.

The question to ask for Perryman is -- will his stock go any higher next year? He's not growing, he's not going to do better than 1st-Team All ACC. So while I would LOVE to see him back, I don't know what he gains.

UM allows players to come back and finish their degrees especially when most of them have 1 year left of school to complete their degrees.

One of the reasons to get a college education is to get a good job.
The minimum base salary for a rookie in 2014 is 420k and increases with each year of time accrued. For example the minimum for a 5 year veteran is 730k and a 10 year vet is 955k.

I don't care what your major is, very few graduates anywhere get offered 420k as a base minimum salary in any profession for what amounts to a 17 week work schedule.
Throw in a signing bonus, offseason workout bonuses, performance bonuses and free eats and treats, and being an NFL player is pretty lucrative.

He could blow his knee out in his 1st training camp like Sean Spence but he could also get injured his senior year.

I figure if you can get a 5 year NFL career, you make probably 3-4 million dollars in that time if you are the 53rd guy on the roster and much more if you are a productive starter.

Anybody here made 4 million dollars in their career after 40 years of work?
I'm sure a few have, but that's the point.
Whatever round you get drafted if you can make it in the NFL for 5-10 years, you make more money than a college professor does in his whole life.

First, that $420k is about $200k after taxes and agent fees. Then we haven't even talked about the car, house or condo, taking care of moms and the family. Add to that the stress of being broke in a locker room full of millionaires and the next group of studs ballin their asses off in college coming to take your job!

-After Miami finally offered Monarch (Fla.) 2015 ATH Calvin Ridley, they are in a great position already for both him and his teammate 2015 ATH Shawn Burgess-Becker. Don’t expect a commitment any time soon, but just know the Canes are sitting well right now.

Please god yes. Burgess is Burgess. Ridley looks like a less fluid Stacy Coley:

Hate to break this to you but when you make 400-500k/year in any profession you also have to pay taxes, have a mortgage or two, car payments and also have family members expecting help.

If you think there's pressure with job security in the NFL, then you haven't experienced the real avalanche of pressure that is life.

I've known a number of ex players and to a man they will tell you the glory days were nothing compared to the grind of real life where a million new professionals graduate every 4 months willing to work for nothing, just to get into the door.

You lose a game in the NFL, there's always next week or next season.
You lose in life, it's resume time, and nowadays those 6 figure jobs are very difficult to find.

The real pressure is when these guys finish with football.
