One of the 10,000 reasons that Butch is the best and only choice. There might be better X & O guys out there but not even Saban can touch Butch recruiting. For Miami he is as perfect a fit as Al was not a fit. What are those smucks going to say: "Butch will run out again to take another NFL HC job." Or "Butch will never be able to recruit 29 first round drafts pick AGAIN.!"

Hiring a coach quickly to save a recruiting class is insanity. You need to have a search, turn over every stone then hire the best guy. If that happens quickly then fine, but don't speed it up for one recruiting class.

The last coaching search ending up with thinking al golden was the best hire the last time.

I'd say within the next 2-3 weeks we will have our next coach. My reasoning for this is that the recruiting dead period is December 14-January 13 so it's in Miami's best interest to get a new coach as soon as possible to recruit. In addition to that we have a bunch of early enrolles to lock up with the new hire

no way we hire a coach until at least the end of the regular season.

Ideally they should just give it to Butch yesterday. But if they want to wait it out and make sure they interview the necessary candidates when they are available then I'm fine with that. **** better start the day after Pitt and they better know who they want by December 4. That gives them a week after our last game.

Brock is right about that dead period. December 14-January 13. That would give the new coach 10 days minimum to at least contact all our current recruits and possibly some more he has his eyes on. He can evaluate recruits until the dead period is over then get after it for about 3 weeks, hopefully with a full staff in place.

But good news is that the dead period doesn't mean anything to those that signed their financial agreement. Shaq, Zach, Allison, Pinckney can all be contacted regardless and those guys are important. Let them handle some of the recruiting during dead period.

Take your time. Not worried about recruiting. This is too important to rush this decision for some 18 year old kids. We are fighting for our program's livelihood.

Schiano would be consistent but not a perennial NC contender. Herman is the one worth taking a risk on if

Why do we need a search?? Alabama didn't search for Nick, Michigan didn't search for Harbaugh, Florida didn't search for McElwain, Nebraska didn't search for Riley, Wisconsin didn't search for Chryst, Arkansas didn't search for Beliema, Oregon St didn't search for Andersen... Identify who it is you want and go after him like all these schools did. I think the search committee crap is nonsense, it has never worked.

we have been down this road before. it doesnt work. at some point you have to produce on the field (i.e. know how to actually coach football) or the recruiting dries up

If it's an NFL guy that becomes more iffy especially if his team makes the playoffs.

Can almost guarantee we'll have someone hired before the end of the first week of December. Just about everyone who has fired their coach during the season over the last 10 years hired their new coach by that time.

So you're eliminating everyone on earth who currently has a job? FYI - recruiting is still going on, even though some of the coaches on staff know that they won't be around. If they stopped recruiting, they would be fired with cause. Coaches are hired after the season every single year.

Just how hard am I gonna recruit when I know I'm gonna get canned. My efforts would be into finding my next gig behind the scenes.
