Timetable for a new coach

I'd say within the next 2-3 weeks we will have our next coach. My reasoning for this is that the recruiting dead period is December 14-January 13 so it's in Miami's best interest to get a new coach as soon as possible to recruit. In addition to that we have a bunch of early enrolles to lock up with the new hire

So you're eliminating everyone on earth who currently has a job? FYI - recruiting is still going on, even though some of the coaches on staff know that they won't be around. If they stopped recruiting, they would be fired with cause. Coaches are hired after the season every single year.
 
I doubt it unless it's Butch of Chud. Any college hc coach isn't going to accept a job to end of regular season
 
Unless its Butch Davis, they won't hire anyone relatively soon. Agree with you though, they need to get a jump on recruiting, another reason why Butch is the best candidate

Outside of Kirby smart, tom Herman, Gary Patterson, who else would you really want that's coaching now in college football that we can get? If not Butch Miami should choose from those 3. I like hue Jackson in the NFL as well. I don't get all the chud hype, yeah he is a hurricane through and through but we need a splash hire at this point and he simply wouldn't be one. Since Miami has money they need to get with the elite programs and make an elite offer to chip kelly tbh.

Didn't Jim McElwain accept the UF job prior to end of season? Maybe it was prior to bowl game I can't remember. But I think your right, we probably won't know until after Dec. 1 even if it ends up being Butch because they'll want to at least interview some guys that are currently employed.

Are you sure? I was reading the South Carolina job update from today and they said dec14-Jan-13. Also just to let you know, they are taking a serious look at muschamp for their coach as well. That's good for us

We got to have a coach soon or our class will be in freefall. Florida, Fsu, auburn will negatively recruit the f_ck out of us if we don't. We have to alleviate our recruits concern considering this is the best class Miami has had in years.

Hiring a coach quickly to save a recruiting class is insanity. You need to have a search, turn over every stone then hire the best guy. If that happens quickly then fine, but don't speed it up for one recruiting class.

Dec 1st would be a good dead line...CFB reg season is wrapping up, new coach announced he can get on campus meet the guys, and hit the ground running when he is allowed too..

showing up and heading out is what Golden did MID DEC we know how 2011 class ended up...

who knows?? BOT could wait till signing day

One of the 10,000 reasons that Butch is the best and only choice. There might be better X & O guys out there but not even Saban can touch Butch recruiting. For Miami he is as perfect a fit as Al was not a fit. What are those smucks going to say: "Butch will run out again to take another NFL HC job." Or "Butch will never be able to recruit 29 first round drafts pick AGAIN.!"
