Time to ramp up the anti-Strong Campaign

People who think that Charlie strong is worse than Al golden need their head examined

Every coach on the list of 40
Coaches provided by the search firm is better than Al, including Mario. Golden will never coach in power 5 again. Donofrio will never ever be a defensive coordinator in college again

Can we please stop saying that anyone is worse than Al golden

I don't think Mario is better than Al Golden... Scary that he is even being mentioned.

We have to stop doing this, there is not one coach that will want to come here if we keep trying to take over the program.

This is a team that is loaded with talent, situated in the most concentrated and rich recruiting territory in the country, and (now) is willing to pony up the cash to remain competitive with some of the best programs in the nation.

Those are the factors that coaches are going to consider when weighing the UM coaching position, period. And if there really is a coach out there that feels UM fans are too rabid, I don't want him leading this program. This is a fanbase that is relatively mild-mannered compared to others around the nation.

And another tidbit from one of our mods:

Went to a lunch this afternoon with some partners and other white collar blue haired types. Got to talking to this one gentleman, who I'll obviously not disclose, who apparently is a member on the BOT.

Naturally, being the inquisitive 'Canes fan that I am, I goaded him about the recent goings on and about what the plan was moving forward. He told me that one of the biggest motivating factors behind the midseason firing was the fan outcry. Obviously, he mentioned the banners, but he actually told me that emails directly to board members were the most effective means of communicating fan dissatisfaction. He actually mentioned Stuart Miller by name. Using his word, he said that Stuart Miller was "overwhelmed" by the amount of email he got about firing Golden and that it played a factor in his decision.

Anyway, just passing it along. Food for thought as we all debate who the next head coach should (or shouldn't) be....

Looks like the fan's voice actually did play a role in the decision to fire Folden and that one of the most influential members of the BOT was captivated by fan disgust.

Keep the pressure on. Making Strong a top priority is settling. Shoot for the stars.

Mario would not deploy the most pathetic defensive scheme in the history of football. So because of that he is better than Al golden

I'd love to hear how a guy who has never lived in Miami nor coached in Miami is somehow a great fit for Miami, btw.

Charlie Strong has spent his entire life in bumble **** small college towns. Most of it in the rural south. So if we are talking "fit" or "Miami guys", that should eliminate him anyway.

Grew up in a small town in Arkansas.

Attended central Arkansas.

Spent his career in Gainesville, South Bend, Ole Miss, and South Carolina.

Never lived in Miami. Never coached in Miami.

His defense, though it destroyed Al Golden, is based on principals opposite of the old Miami 4-3, despite being a 4-3 single gap defense.

Does this sound like a guy who is a "fit" for Miami?

Confused by this quote?? Are you saying Tom Herman, Jim Harbaugh, Urban Meyer wouldn't be a good fit for Miami? Or are you addressing the people that keep saying Strong would be a good fit?

Exactly. Has to be a Miami guy or Miami fit makes me sick. Either he is a winner or he ain't.

TO MANY COOKS IN THE Kithchen.

What do you think? I think it's obvious that I find this "fit" concept to be the biggest load of crap I've ever heard. But even if it was a real concept, Charlie actually doesn't even "fit".

But I keep hearing how a certain failed misery coach is a great "fit" for Miami. I mean if "fit" is so important, then how is a rural south dude who has no actual ties to Miami a good "fit"?

A good" fit" for Miami the last couple hires has been a **** coach that is a great "recruiter" so by that standard, yes

No anti banners, just banners and advertising of who you want, that other negative stuff is no good

We can learn a lot from the political world. All politicians decry negative ads, yet they all do them. Why? Because they work.

I agree with you on the whole "fit' BS. I was just confused how it was worded. Using "bad fit" for Strong's failures at Texas is just another excuse in a long line of delusional fans.

People are wasting too many thoughts on this coaching decision.

Hire Butch. Sign him for 3 years, decent salary, no extensions, and see what happens. He is the surest thing out of all the coaching hires. There is a tough coaching transition to a place like Miami. I don't want to sit through another coach that brings in a philosophy that can't adapt to the local market. In three years, we can reassess his hire, we will have a stockpile of top talent, and worst case scenario we will be back to where we are now looking for a new coach, but at least we didn't turn away the guy that built our greatest team and is salivating to do it again.
