ACC sucks across the board .... reputation, money, officiating, Tobacco Road mafia, worst commissioner, and no rivalries.

It's time to strike a deal with Netflix or Uncle Jeff for $150M up-front (pay to get out of ACC) and $100M annually.

Have 8 home games every year and essentially create a "Miami Hurricanes Channel". A bunch of special programming, documentaries, Hard Knocks type shows, day in the life, get the Cavender Twins, Alex Earle, etc to create content.

There might be two sports that benefit from being in the ACC - volleyball and basketball.

The only problem I foresee is scheduling.

The "only problem" is, in fact, an insurmountable problem.

The SEC and B1G aren't gonna support pouty Miami throwing a fit by agreeing to home-and-home series to keep the Canes relevant

We'd be playing a string of G5 schools in front of 12,000 — home or away.

ACC is 100% garbage like you spelled out.

We just need to do our part to expedite the implosion, then get to the higher ground of a P2 conference

I share the emotion and sentiment of wanting to go Independent, but this is not realistic at all. It is akin to teenager wanting to run away from parent's home.

LOL how are we going to do that genius?

Since idiots not OP clearly have said something similar. Who is going give us a TV as good as ND? Lets say by some miracle we get a TV contract like ND. Who are we going to play? We don't sell out our stadium unless its a namebrand but scheduling Uconn and Army are going to bring out the fans. Next how are we getting out of the ACC/Espn deal.

I love how many posters think you can conjure up an idea and it’ll just happen like magic. Like Rad just has walk into Netflix and walk out an hour later with a sack of cash.

Much more likely we go to B12 than go independent one day. We would need our own TV deal like ND has and the insane buyout money for ACC. But if we could I would love it. We can still play mostly ACC team while integrating traditional OOC rivals too. ND, UF, FSU, Va Tech, Cuse, BC, Pitt, an HBCU, then the last four can be rotations of different opponents yearly. But its all a pipe dream.

What’s would be the downside affiliating with the Big12 and still scheduling a couple high viz ACC schools like FSU and Clemson? Big12 has an infinitely better commissioner than ACC. They would do backflips to schedule Miami and try to get us to officially join. Meanwhile we make our own streaming deal with Amazon or Netflix. Would only be to 2030 anyways since that is when the next big conference alignments happen.

IF Michigan and USCw left the Big10, there is a path to indy. That is 7 "indy" with UConn, Oregon State, and Washington State.

I could see a G5 go Indy for much better pay days playing those Indy teams.

The 2nd Issue: the non-Football sports would need to be in a conference.

The 2024 B1G rev splits were 63 million. 100 million annually for an independent team is laughable. Even Texas couldn't support the Longhorn Network long term and decided the SEC was a better option.

With the power conferences adding conference games its going to be harder to schedule in the future. Even Notre Dame depends on the charity of the ACC to fill out a schedule these days.

The only real option is to wait until the ACC buyout hits 75 million in 2030 and make the jump to B1G / SEC for 2031.

It's more likely that teams from the BIG10, SEC, and ACC leave to form their own conference, which is probably the best course. The BIG10 and SEC have a problem with bottom feeder teams that they can't expel. If you formed a new conference from scratch you could optimize the structure to be the most profitable per team. Given everything that's changed in college football, a brand new conference with new rules and structures would have a huge advantage.

That's the real power move to combat all this.

You want to switch conferences due to the commissioner? Jesus H. You realize either guy could quit tomorrow and you might like the inverse new hires. You gonna jump again?

I would take my chances with Big12 getting someone competent over the ACC. And Yormark isn’t going anywhere.

You have any idea how small our following is? We can’t fill a stadium but you want a Netflix streaming deal?

I say get FSU, Clemson and UNC to band together and join the Big12. Rename it to what ever you want.

Or

All non SEC & BIG10 schools leave the NCAA and form a new league. Have your own playoffs/ national title. Either get ESPN to renegotiate or find a new streaming/tv partner

All long shots I know.

Yeah, that's exactly what I said *******. Let's just sit on our hands as usual.

The Big12 is running a beginning of the season basketball tournament that is going to generate $50M to be split by the schools and exploring tons of other options.

Clemson and the Tallahassee Panhandlers will end up in the SEC.

They'll have nine conference games on a 12-game schedule and (likely) a made-for-TV SEC-B1G challenge game every season.

Zero.Point.Zero reason for either of 'em to help out Miami

Option A: Join SEC or B1G

Option B: Join super-sized Big XII for schools without an Option A invite

Option Y: Shut down the program

Option Z: Remain in a patched-together zombie ACC

That's it.

The "we're gonna do our own media thing, thank you" wouldn't work because UM would lack the leverage to make that sort of arrangement with the Big XII. Brett Yormark — who has outfoxed Jim Phillip time after time — would tell DanRad "all or nothing" and his schools would back him 100 percent
