Week 4 and I have to say Santo Mario has managed the clock fairly well.

Granted, our Canes haven't been faced with a must have game winning drive starting on their own 3yd line with 2:21 on the clock, but at least he's stopped using all the time outs in the first series of tbe 1Q/3Q.

So progress.

Yeah, huge improvement. One time out came too late on defense but we stopped em.

Having the 2-minute in your pocket allows you to burn one earlier each half if you need to do so.

Mario should have called timeout before that 4th down USF went for but other than that I’ve been happy with how he’s managed his timeouts.

Randy would have used all 3 in the first 8 minutes of the first quarter.

They handled the end of the first half against Florida flawlessly. It was handled in a way that most NFL teams do routinely. That was impressive.

Additionally, the timeout at the end of the half against USF was perfect. We were winded and needed to regroup. We did that and stopped them and then they missed the FG. In more then one way that put an end to the wind in their sails.

Should Mario have gone for a long TD attempt with 18 sec left in the half similar to the Brown play? I wouldn't with TVD but I don't see Cam making a mistake with the ball.

we've done well the play following the timeouts too. good coaching. barrow sack against ballstate was one. using timeouts when u realize u may be ****ed isn't aids. using a timeout on 4th & 9 up 1 with 35 seconds left from midfield, then rushing 3 and dropping 3 to the sticks as they watch 3 receivers run past them 1on1 and end up covering empty space like syracuse did against stanford is aids.

Nah. You take the lead into the half and that’s it. No reason to risk something funky happening.
