Any chance these guys get going in the pass game? Think they can help slow down Styles and Reese but if they’re just gonna run cardio and block, it may be more useful to put McCoy or Pancake in as a 6th lineman. Any thoughts? Think Lofton needs a few catches to open up play action more, don’t trust Bauman in the pass game although good blocker. What everyone think?

Dawson said the Malipass was designed to go to Lofton deep but the Edge unexpectedly picked him up. I think they will be involved similar to how they were to end the year when both of them made some nice plays down the field.

Its not unexpected.

The malipass has always targeted the tightend.

They studied film. Dawson didnt change the scheme.

Was unexpected to Dawson, or at least thats what I remember him saying about the play in the presser.

Agree it was a poor call, especially since one thing I had noticed rewatching a few A&M games was how often Howell covered a TE/RB way down the field, like he did on that play. Really shouldn't have been a surprise to our OC. Hope he has a much better game calling plays against Taint.

Loftin was blocking very well from the few times I saw him

Seems like he's getting healthy again. Still carrying too much weight. But I wouldn't be surprised if he has a Mesidor-like bounce back next season with the right S&C.. He's more an H-back/Fullback than a TE though.
