Tickets still available for Miami vs. Notre Dame

Anyone expecting this to resemble the 2017 ND crowd is going to be disappointed.
More so the VT game the week before. Which was still a very very loud crowd. 2017 ND was perfect storm…. This will still be the loudest crowd in Mario’s tenure.

If UM handles business this weekend, you’re gonna see something very special when UF rolls into town.

You guys saying it’s not going to be packed/sold out and disappointed that it won’t resemble 2017 are mistaken.

Grab your popcorn and tune in Sunday night (clearly those of you playing chicken little aren’t going).

Everyone I talk to that goes to games over the years is fired the **** up for this one! Get a real feel for the game and quit asking your sister in laws if they are excited for the game.

It's gonna be loud. I have zero doubt about that. The people going are going to be crazy. I also think it's going to be a full stadium. Maybe not every single seat packed but full.

My issue, that I've been airing out here, is that the University has done no favors to try and facilitate any of that. They are pricing tickets at double what other premier schools are pricing. This game should have been an announced sell out 5 days ago. Last row of the stadium seats cannot be sold for $300. That's insane.

You have a top 10 primetime matchup all to yourself on a Sunday night. It's the only game on. Massive marketing moment. The exposure that brings the school is worth its weight in gold. Instead of prioritizing creating a wild environment to sell the school they prioritized making money off a single game. I can promise you the few million more they make from this game is pennies compared to a national narrative that Sunday night in Miami was an insane experience. The athletic department likely has a bunch of bean counters, or consultants, pushing decisions on ticket prices and strategy with absolutely zero thought beyond maximizing revenue.

Not everything is about money. In the words of Costco co-founder Jim Sinegal to Costco's then CEO, "If you raise the price of the f***ing hot dog, I will kill you".

I actually worry about the rain as a deterrence, numbers aren’t looking great for Sunday from a precipitation standpoint.

I’m hoping that doesn’t drive people away or sway them from going but it’s sometime to monitor. Tailgating during a downpour isn’t exactly ideal.

I just hope there are no lightning delays and by the time kickoff comes around it starts to clear

I think everyone here can agree the athletic department and specifically, ticketing, is a cluster****. And that’s putting it nicely.

With respect to the Costco CEO quote, one of 8 football home games is a stark contrast to a hot dog.

When the stadium is full and declared a sell out, the department did what they are there for. Sell as many tickets (in this case all of them) for the highest dollar to maximize profits. I see nothing wrong with it. Sure it’s a high price… but that’s the going rate for primetime games, big concerts, Disney, etc..

It will be sold out come gametime.

My thoughts exactly. And for the record, I broke the bank and I’m 7 rows from the field with two.

I will say, some of the other big games this weekend have nosebleeds that are double the price as this game. That’s just how it is now. But as you said, this is a huge marketing opportunity not only for the program but for the school. On top of that, if it is an awesome atmosphere, more people will be inclined to attend the other home games.

Let’s say there’s 3k tickets left at $400 per. Cut the price in half and get those sold. Half mil lost in revenue had the tickets got sold at full price- unlikely (of which some you make up for in concessions), but you get a once in every 5-10 years type of atmosphere for this program/school.

LOL. A few hundred people isn't going to make any material difference in noise levels.

Agreed, but there’s more than a few hundred floating around right now. A few thousand at least. Hopefully they get sold this weekend. I’m just tired of the attendance/stadium narrative.

Some bimbo betting “expert” on ESPN yesterday said to take ND spread because we will have no home field advantage, verbatim. This our chance to rock that ******* place.

I bet 75% of you that tug on Mario’s ******* on here aren’t even going to the game. Some real fans you are.

I’m taking a red eye Saturday night from Vegas after Week 1 slate is done for work purposes, quick nap and straight to the tailgate for the game.

You either bleed it or you don’t. Show up or shut up.

THIS!

I'm also flying in (Sunday morning) and sitting by myself because the guys I grew up with and have season tickets are all going and don't have any extras. I'm not missing the tailgate or this game for anything!

They should donate the seats in section 332 to local high schools, youth clubs etc.
Looks like they did, completely sold out the non-alcoholic sections

This mentality is part of the problem - shut your mouth do as your told or your not a “fan”. As a catch all not necessarily opposed to high ticket prices. This is a premier game there should be a premium. But there’s a point where it goes too far. Bending the fans over on the parking and even the concession prices.

Theres no reason you can’t show some appreciation to the fans who support your team by not bending them over on concessions. You and your family are going to be here for 5 hours we’re going to serve **** food and charge a 3,000% markup because we’re your only option. Oh your daughter wants a ****** hot dog and a coke that’ll be $20 before tip. Nachos? Another $20. You and your wife want to have a beer $40.

Atlanta does it right. Respects the fans and don’t overcharge them stadium fare.
Examples of Concession Prices from an NFL stadium:

    • Food:
        • Classic Hot Dog: $2.00
        • Super Pretzel: $2.00
        • Fresh Popped Popcorn: $2.00
        • Cheese Nachos: $3.00
        • Candy: $3.50
        • Quinoa Bowl: $10.00
    • Beverages:
        • Bottled Water: $3.00
        • Regular Soda: $2.00
        • Souvenir Soda: $4.00
        • Frozen Arctic Peach Shake: $3.00
    • Draft Beer:
        • Small Domestic Draft Beer: $5.00
        • Small Premium Draft Beer: $6.00
        • Large Domestic Draft Beer: $9.00
        • Large Premium Draft Beer: $11.00

I was out of this thread, but I wanted to make a quick public service announcement. Remember that many if not most of the tickets you see in different sites are resales. Tickets already bought in people trying to make a buck. Those seats are going to be filled no matter what.
