Throwing downfield

That’s a fair point and I agree. That being said, that was one of the worst performances by a OL in Miami history. Williams hung on to the ball too long. Point is, we can’t get to point C with out getting to point A and B.

Also if you watched the Manny Diaz show on youtube at the end he breaks down some plays. On the first TD by Brevin Jordan, Mike Harley had his man beat for a TD as well

Plays were there Saturday and Wiliams either didn't have time or didn't pull the trigger. We definitely called a lot more aggressive game than we executed.
 
He threw 1 ball over 20 yards. PFF credited him with having 19 throws without pressure (yes, several were on the first drive when the ball was out in under 2 seconds).

But he did have time on some throws, and either by design or by his own apprehension, he did not attack downfield. Was the message all camp to just not beat yourself...run the ball, play defense, throw short, and don't turn it over?

Regardless, in 40 dropbacks, 1 ball went over 20 yards. That has to change. And in order for it to, yes, we need to protect him a lot better. But he needs to let the ball rip as well.
 
Enos shares the desire to go up top. That’s part of the reason he was sour with Jarren. Jarren didn’t cut it loose a couple times where we had walk in TDs deep.

I’m eager to see Jarren’s deep game, as I’ve only seen him throw deep a couple times, and they’ve come up short.

What coach en I s needs to do and didnt do was go max protect and than take shots, leaving the tackles on and island most of the day for the most part was foolish, not playing irvin over mallory was even more foolish when you already know we going up against a physical defense!

Enos has film evidence that the only thing he needs to do is get Jarren to be confident enough to throw the ball downfield.
 
I wouldn’t be mad if Enos put in a few single read plays where he sets JT up on a deep route and we either throw it to him or Jarren takes off. Sometimes, asking a young guy to read too many things or go through too many progressions can stifle his willingness to take the deep shot.

The film evidence he sighted, states exactly that, where he said another time, the tackles got beat, but the bottom line, and you saw the same game, im all for being aggressive, but during a game, once you see where you got the advantage and disadvantages at, than make your adjustments from their, but enos kept calling plays that required either max protect, or more physical players, like irvin over mallory's light ***! If coach enos thought grantham was gone give jarren time to throw a bomb he obviously fooled himself!

I agree in theory, I just don't think uf's D gave us enough time to set that up.
 
It's hard to keep the defense honest when you can't run the ball, most of Deejay's yardage came from the wildcat.

First things first, I'd like to shy away from "Miami's past" and start talking about "Miami's present and future". To be realistic we have a lot of Freshman on offense making their first start so while optimistic we also have to be reasonable. I understand most people want Miami to stretch the field and I agree to a certain extent but you need good pass protection to do this. So, it's important to understand that this will vary from game to game. Let's be real, we all know we faced an ELITE pass rush and an Elite secondary in which we had freshman going up against. I'm sure our coache's developed a gameplan in which limiting turnover's outweighed the risk's of taking chances down the field. Regardless of how aggressive they want to call the game the coaches want to call the game based on matchups and our advantages. But to be honest it's hard to call a game when your offense is showing a lack of discipline and mental mistakes (Delay of Game, False Starts, Etc.). Hence, I believe we will get better as the season progress and our coaches will open up the playbook according to game situations and opponents.
 
We played a little too conservative down the stretch, imo. But it was a reckless conservatism, if that makes any sense.

The fact is, we had UF on skates for a min, and we gave them tennis shoes by dialing down the play call. Those long moments were head scratching, but we have the horses...not sure why we didn’t slang it deep more.

We attempted it that's why there were receivers running deep all night. Enos said in his postgame interview they were aggressive in their play calling and didn't hold anything back. Jarren just couldn't/wouldn't get it to them.

Why Enos didn’t put JDub in shotgun after the performance of the OL bewilders me to this day. It would’ve allowed him at the very least more time to survey the field. That, and more rushing to loosen up their safeties would’ve been nice especially with the way we were running the ball.
