Thoughts on this class

I quit reading at "our biggest mistake was not offering Treon Harris @ QB". GTFOH

Give him an honest shot to compete? If it were only that easy. He gets locked in a battle, loses out, then he and his old man go HAM on us for the next two decades.

The key was you saying "honest shot". As long as the battle is won on the field, most players take the loss in stride. When folks are split on who really won or think the other guy one, that's when the talk starts

I like the class its just seems to be missing something...I have no idea what it is that would settle a lot of the fan base...

However, I do want to see this staff continue to push for elite prospects...and I do not want to see Al pitch a last second
ditch at a kid that is not deserving of a UM scholly and will ultimately wind up a JAG...If we can't get more kids that can
help immediately save the scholly...

watching our LB's cover receivers and RB's for the past 7 or so years we can only hope we have done enough at the LB position. i feel like we really could use another top prospect at LB.

I think it is a good write up except

Mike Smith will start out as a LB.

Derrick Griffin (if he qualifies) will start out as a WR.

Plus the possibility of dividing the Team ....

JC

I don't knw how much a fair shot Harris is goin to get at FSU..that got Costentino committed, they took Alex Collins teammate last year in John Franklin and told him he would get a fair shot, and the have 4-star QB DeAndre Johnson the kid out of Jacksonville committed for 2015..they played Treon...we will be 3-4 string at best up there..Jimbo took him to get more with so Fla recruits...its a dirty game people....

Pete, good effort, but like others believe you misfired on Treon Harris. Al was in no-win situation and was smart to be upfront wth Ice & Co. Class is likely Top 5 so pretty hard for even the haters to ***** and find fault. If we truly believe Coley to be a uber recruiter/QB evaluator, then it's hard to sing his praise for Kaaya and then rip Rosier. Not ready to throw the kid out with the bath water. Will also, for now, trust Coley's evaluation vs. internet experts.

Homie, just stop! I heard he said no to Texas when they inquired about him. If that us true, why would he even consider going to PSU? The dude is smart enough to wait around for a Florida job where he can establish himself even more to the point that he just dominates the area in recruiting!

Pretty sure they have reported that Strong has already interviewed for the Texas HC job.

FSU has grabbed the top kid out of Dade 2 years in a row?

When did Chad flip to FSU?

You dont get it. A kid is only the top propsect in South Florida if he is uncommitted or commits elsewhere. If the kid commits to Miami and is solid, or commits early and then just keeps his words and has no drama, he's not the best anymore, and he is often downgraded by the recruiting services from 5 star status to 4 star, and will even become an afterthought to many fans here.

If Chad was uncommitted, or going to FSU, he would be "the greatest player to come out of So Fla in a decade", and WORSE, at a "key position of need", that we missed on and Golden is an idiot for letting him to go FSU. But we locked him up early, and he's stayed solidly committed, so were "happy" to have him, but its all about how awesome Cook is.

Last time I checked we have, assuming Kayaa comes, 2 Elite 11 Qbs on the roster going into next year. So y'all can get lost with that Treon ****. FSU's qb of the future is JJ Cosentino so I will put money on Treon never playing meaningful snaps there at QB.

LOL Dont forget Franklin from South Plant... Collins best friend who they gave a scholly too to try and lure Collins to FSU. He hasnt seen any action yet and prob wont ever

I skipped the first sentence, but I went back to it after I read the rest. Only then did I realize that it was a long post.

FSU has been taking top dade kids since the 80s. This isn't all of a sudden a new thing. Marvin Jones, Sterling Palmer, Derrick Gibson, et al are all top guys that have left sofla for Tally.

If we can hang on to Valentine and he qualifies then I'm happy with this class as is. If we can add JC and get Griffin to qualify then I'm ecstatic.

Dont forget the Antone Smith saga, the greatest runningback in the history of football who was going to run us into the ground when he went to FSU.

yep, countless others.

Would not work at Miami. Here's the issue. Harris loses the starting QB job and it then becomes a black/white issue. It's happened many times over the years. The right play was being up front with Harris and telling him his natural position is DB. At FSU, they can lie to his face and no one in South Florida is going on a rampage to talk about it...

It is what it is....

Yeah but that conversion on third and mile back in 08 was a dagger......

In a vacuum this is a very good to excellent class no doubt.

The problem is when you look at it in context there are problems. You just can't miss on Sony, Dalvin, Lane, and Rudolph and think everything is great. We need another back and we have two of the top backs in the nation right here in South Florida and they are going elsewhere.

I still think this class can turn things around....let's hope our staff follow suit.

only thing is kaaya is a mixed race kid. maybe he considers himself black.

Still not the same. With Harris being from the 305, emotions would run very high...
