Thoughts on Richt using only 8 Bowl Practices?

The 15 Practice Detractors are right up there with Flat Earthers and Holocaust deniers as some of the most uneducated people on Earth.

Not surprised in the least to see the usual suspects guilty as charged.

We are in a recruiting dead period until Jan 10, 2019. This means that for recruiting purposes we are not hindered by being in a bowl game. Nobody is doing any in-home visits.

Unfortunately, the bowl game is Dec. 27 - so do the math. Between travel to the bowl, finals and recruiting, it's not crazy to see why only 8 practices. Would be curious to see what other teams playing Dec. 27 are doing.

Some of you hate slurpers are going to ride with this debunked bull **** theory, no matter how many times it gets disproved. So desperate to trash CMR, the program and the team in general that the truth about any subject becomes irrelevant, only your daily hate regurge...

Just about every team, if not all of them, does not practice while players are in finals. We are no different. It was mathematically impossible to practice 15 times.

STOP LYING,

There are enough real things to be concerned about without your everyday hyperbolic, exhaustingly repetitive, unoriginal regurge on here daily.

It should be noted that players are still maintaining conditioning work, even though practice is reduced during finals.

Ummmmmm, the dead period started Sunday & that was the first day of bowl practice for us. If we weren’t playing the 27th (a shi*tty bowl) and say we were playing New Years Day, that would bring the total amount of practices to “15” instead of 10 without affecting recruiting. This my comment.

Of course we shouldnt be concerned. We should show our support, because we clearly suck because of the “fan negativity” as some posters say.

Its ******* ridiculous, and it shows how pathetic our pos coach is. Trash. He is straight ******* trash. And if you pay $ to support this trash, then you are a huge part of the problem.

LMMFAO look at this guy thinking he's making a point!!!! hahahaha

You whiners literally sit around and invent things to complain about. You're worse than a nagging wife on her period and off her meds.

Do we need the practice? **** yeah.

How often should we practice? As often as possible.

If we are practicing any less than that, Richt is doing the team a disservice

Well Captain helpful, for a start there are no "15 practices". There are however many you can fit into the time without breaking weekly rules. 15 is the number people use because that's how many most teams have time for. But whatever, there's no time for that so let's just have 7 or 3 or whatever feels right. Actually, is there really any point? If they don't know how to play football yet they won't learn in a few practices. Let's just have none, that's a nice round number.

This and we took weeks off. So....

Them choosing not to practice is completely different than "it is virtually impossible to practice"

Just stop.

If you read my original comment it was that its virtually impossible to get 15 practice in with final exams, Christmas break, and travel.

That is 100% accurate and yet you continue to run your mouth.

You have earned an ignore from me with your incessant stupidity and negativity.

And to the surprise of nobody. You are wrong yet again. I will enjoy being ignored by one of the worst porsters on the board. I have never seen anyone post so many incorrect things while trying to be smug in my life. My all time favorite is when you post sources that shoot holes into your original argument.

"These 13 or 15 practices can't be bought," Vanderbilt coach Derek Mason said. "They have to be earned. And with that, it gives you an extra spring ball."
"Mason said seven of Vanderbilt's Independence Bowl practices were devoted to fundamentals."

So some dude from Vandy thinks bowl practices are super important and they're doing 13-15 of them. In fact, Vandy has so many practices that for 7 of them they just focus on fundamentals. Now admittedly, Miami is the Harvard of the south, but even we should have time for more than 8 practices. But I guess our finals take longer than Vandy's or something. Maybe we have more of them?

This has already been covered, but since you missed it I'll sum up.

Everybody thinks it's a smart move. As always, Richt is a canny guy who knows the game. He's shrewdly ensured that our guys are fresh for the game. Wisconsin will roll in having practiced like 15 times and be dead tired. I mean, what kind of idiot has his team practice every day? It's madness. No, using half the number of practices he could have had is just the latest in an unbroken string of brilliant ideas.
Don't you think 8 practices is a bit stiff?

Kids will get over tired, might get sloppy and twist an ankle.

I'd say no more than 4 or 5.

the less time our players spend around the coaches the better. something tells me richt is finally catching on

Richt's own college coach Howard Schnellenberger said something very similar 35 years ago. It's why he wanted that 1981 Peach Bowl so he could get the extra spring practice, get better and get on the "perpetual motion machine"--keep on going to bowl games, practice more and keep getting better and better.

Now Richt wants to negate that. Kids can shorten or postpone trips home. Do an abbreviated trip after the Bowl game. The school could even defer some finals until the start of January classes.

If you really want to get elite, you have to make sacrifices.

I've been very patient about Richt but every day I'm getting to doubt more and more the wisdom of his ways.
