Thoughts on last 5 hires

While all 5 were obviously failures in retrospect, there was at least some justifiable rationale for hiring the first 4. Diaz was an obvious disaster to any non homer. Panic, lack of search, completely unqualified candidate.

As I pointed out at the time of this monumental blunder, Randy was much more qualified than Manny for the job at the time he was hired. Coker was appointed by the inmates. Golden was generally in demand. Richt was washed up but was a Cane and had a P5 track record. Manny was hired based on gimmickry and pseudo machismo.

All that shows is that this university can't excuse a coaching search period.
Every single one of those five hires was the result of LAZY LAZY LAZY scared stupid SHORTSIGHTED coaching searches.
Until they understand how to conduct an actual search and have the will to do it we are screwed.

those early 2000 players were his guys and they may be the best of all time, certainly in the conversation

If he didnt lie to the BOT hed be the head coach at UM. Maybe shouldn’t lie to the people hiring you.

What exactly did he lie about, I don’t want Butch the flopper back. So I see a few people saying he lied to BOT. Just curious what the lie was.

**** I lie to everyone, especially my wife when I get busted doing something she told me not to do.

You know I don't get this criticism of Coker. He at least won 2 titles. Sure he wasnt the long term guy but had he left to bum up the NFL after 2 years history would look very different on him.

One thing I've had to learn as a teacher was when to move out of the way. Talent or not it is possible for ineptitude to get in the way. Have we learned nothing as canes fans?

The fan base was clamoring for Shannon to be the HC. That was a dumpster fire.
