Coker- Delivered a NC and really 2 just because he stayed out of the way. Fell apart at the end but he was fired when he needed to be.

Shannon- Hiring really made no sense. Probably should have stayed on as DC under the new coach, but shouldn’t have been promoted. To defend the admin somewhat, they tried looking for other coaches in 2006, but everybody turned them down.

Golden- Seems to have been a hot coaching property, although a lot of that was probably a fraud due to moving from the Big East to the MAC. The finalists for the job make you cringe, as Trestman and Edsall were the 2 guys passed over.

Richt-Game had somewhat passed him by when he was hired. Shouldn’t have been allowed to hire his son. I do wonder if his health fell apart in 2018, and that’s why the team slumped after he had brought 2 decent seasons to start his tenure, and there was hope that he might do even better as he got his own recruits.

Diaz- Just a godawful hire. Did the admin never see his Texas D?

Where do you get that everyone turned them down in 2006? I'm pretty sure Mike Leach wanted the job so badly he asked Donald Trump to write Shalala on his behalf.

Also Leach badly wanted the job in 2011. No reason the final candidates had to come down to Trestman and Edsall.

In 2006, Leach was one of the few guys who was interested in the job, and his interview was beyond a disaster.

2011 was after the scandal at Texas Tech. Of course they wouldn’t touch him then.

Coker delivered a NC??.....Lol....Only thing he delivered was 150 claps per quarter....HC Ken Dorsey and DC Ed Reed did the delivering...

Hate to say it but the king of flop wanted to come back a couple of times, and even though he is older he is a good coach and an excellent judge of talent.
can not forgive him for embarrassing us with the flopping though.
those early 2000 players were his guys and they may be the best of all time, certainly in the conversation

Since Coker "Delivered" a NC in 2001....Then I'd Love to know which one of these Bad Azzes he evaluated and closed on, I mean he had to be responsible for delivering ONE of these Elite Players right??.........Dont worry...I'll wait....

In 2006 there was wayyyy more than a few guys interested in UM job...

Yes, there were, but that one applicant - the undertaker apprentice - wasn't too impressive although he could clean up extreme trauma as the sight of blood didn't really seem to bother him.

And remember that little fat guy who was the quality control supervisor and he'd just gotten fired for putting his ****** in the pickle slicer? And she got fired too?

And that other guy that was funny to even think about - he was the guy who put sprinkles on cupcakes - and when the customer said he didn't WANT sprinkles, he started licking them off and putting them back in the box?

But my favorite was the "mom bak" guy. Rode on the left rear corner on the garbage truck, and when it needed to back up - he'd wave his arm and yell "MOM BACK! MOM BACK!" He had the voice for coaching - that's for sure - and based on the other coaches after Butch - it's possible we really missed out on a good one there.

If Patterson was able to do what he did/does with leftovers & hand me downs from Texas...Baylor..OU..etc...then just imagine what he'd have done in the Coastal??...
My neighbor's cat could have won the ACC many times with the talent that Miami has had over the last 15 years .... talent that was not properly coached or developed by the string of useless corches we have had.
