I am first and foremost a fan of BK. When he announced his commitment to the U, I was estatic. His HS tape is sick, he performed really well in all the camps and to me was a real steal at the QB position. He came in late and still won the job which is a testiment to his abilities and also a lack of competition at the position. As I have watch his maturation through the season, I am starting to realize a real weaknesses that are giving me pause about his overall game.
1. His accuracy on deep balls is shaky and inconsistant. He has made some beautiful throws under duress and has made some poorous throws with no pressure. The missed throw on the potential Coley TD is the most blatant example but there were other misses Saturday that could not be contributed to pressure. He has also missed Dorsett, Walford and Berrios countless times this season as well so familarity is no excuse.
2. His pocket presence is atrocious. He almost never moves once he is set. There is no internal clock in his head that tells him to move up in the pocket or run. The sack in which he almost got killed due to Sonny's inadequacies at Ol could have been avoided if he just realized who was blocking for him on the right side and just cheated up. Sonny got burnt on the outside and tried to ride his man out. Unfortunately it was right into an unsuspecting BK who had no idea what was coming.
3. He throws a nice ball but his delivery is slow which in combination with poor pocket presence and lack of athletism is a big problem. If you ever notice when he gets pressured he still throws with the same motion. He doesn't shorten it up ala a Jameis Winston who is concerned with getting it out and avoiding sacks. Now I know Jameis is Jameis but there has to be a sense of urgency there.
4. He is slow on his progressions. This is absolutely understandable and is easiliy cured with continued experience and a full offseason.
5. This all equates to him needed time to pick teams apart. This means we need to be able to establish the run and hold blocks upfront. Our OL is solid in light of all the injuries but is suseptable to teams that are intent on blitzing. If you watch the UVA game, early on there was no pressure and BK hurt them. When UVA switched it up, and added pressure it changed the game and all of the above factors came in to play.

The bottomline is right now BK is a liability back there if teams decide to pressure him. Teams do not go all out when there is an ability by the QB to get rid of the ball quickly or run effectively. That is a lot of pressure to put on an OL that has little or no depth and starting rookies. BK has work to do if he is gonna be the QB we a believe he can be

He was in HIGH SCHOOL last year. He has time man, gotta chill a bit.

I lol at some of you that expect a kid to be freaking perfect out of high school. Guy is the most promising QB we've had in years.

bruh...chill. He came in late and he's a TRUE FROSH! On top of that, he's playing under an incompetent staff. You gotta chill on your assessment, my guy. If there is no progress next year, then bump this thread.

He's the top-rated QB in his conference as a true freshman.

He's on pace for over 3,000 yards with better than 2:1 TD to INT ratio.

Coming in as an 18-year-old without any Spring practice, and doing what he's done, I have nothing to complain about. He's a stud. To perform at this high of a level is impressive given the circumstances.

Tried to give you the benefit of the doubt, but stopped reading at "His pocket presence is atrocious."

I thought he was a true freshman starting for the University of Miami with that wonderful coaching staff....

Bk is doing big things this year. He has physical liabilities that need to be overcome for him to truly attain greatness. I actually compare him to Payton Manning in his mannerisms, arm strentgh, athleticism, body types, etc. Where he is not comparable (obviously) is ability to read coverage, pregressions and quick release. These are things that he can develop so I have no problems there. The lack of athleticism most likely won't so increased pocket presence is a real must. The OL will have to be good to great to support his skillset. As opposed to guys like Rosier and Lawson if he comes. There a reason why Payton Manning gets his *** handed to him every once and a while. Pressure affects QB's with little or no athleticsism more than athletic ones. Teams also play them deferently. He needs to develop the intangibles to fully develop.

BK is a prodigy. Enjoy him for the next 2-3 years. Someone with his skill set and maturity comes every 10 years. If he only had Dorsey's O-line.......

There are some valid concerns. My hope is that most, if not all, of them are overcome with an entire offseason and summer of weight training. Right now, he really doesn't have any short area quickness. I imagine that's because he has not done legitimate (any?) training. His entire focus this summer should be on his movements up and across the pocket. Go to the beach or buy the guy a sandpit.

On the positive side, must be ******* nice to have such a clean and consistent release. While most other young QBs are desperately trying to correct their arm angles, hitches in their release, etc., ours will be focused on something much more straightforward: eating and physical training.

Your points most all suck and are barely true. Kid was in high school last year and is light years ahead of where most guys are. He's deadly accurate and has great pocket presence. Just on those two points alone I wonder what the **** you've been watching this season.

He is the only QB I have seen to make NFL like throws since Dorsey left; and Dorsey washed in the league. (Brock made some nice ones, but not like this kid)

He is giving us the best QB play we have seen here in at least a decade, Berlin's senior year, and you post this. At your rate you can criticize anybody and everybody that has set foot on the field. I wonder what your thoughts were on Morris last year in the summer????

His deep ball accuracy and distance will come as he builds core and lower body strength through the S&C program at Miami. The kid (which he literally is) was only in high school at this time last year. He needs time to mature.

Do you know how many sacks Miami has given up this year? What about last year or the year before?

I don’t get it. What’s your concern here?
4. He is slow on his progressions. This is absolutely understandable and is easiliy cured with continued experience and a full offseason.
Again. He’s an 18 year old kid. He’s doing things Jacory and/or Morris couldn’t do in 4-years here. I mean…Jesus H. Christ.
5. This all equates to him needed time to pick teams apart. This means we need to be able to establish the run and hold blocks upfront. What QB doesn’t need time to be effective? Do you know what his duress numbers are VS other COMPARABLE QB’s in the ACC and/or the NCAA?

This guy has to be trolling…and I can’t believe I put all of this **** HERE.
