Thought this article might be fitting...

Lol this is always the go to every after a game where we look ****** or lose to a team we shouldn’t

Now lets look back in history and count how many coaches lost in their first season to a garbage team and then eventually lost their job and didn't build a dynasty. I promise there are hundreds of thousands perhaps millions who have had that happen, but some here are going to pick out 2 of the exceptions. Saban and Dabo. Ahahahahahahahahahaha. Love it.

Urban took a 6-6 team and went 12-0 the next. Would've likely won the title if not for sanctions, THAT'S COACHING.
That team was 6-6 because the coach that had been winning 11 games a year was fired and an interim coach stepped in at the last second. The team was full of talent.

How about a failed WR coach from a failed regime with no experience?

As a WR coach, Swinney was regarded as one of the best recruiters in college football. Clemson was banking on his recruiting prowess as he learned the coaching ropes. Worst case if he is fired he leaves a stacked team. Diaz isn't even a good recruiter

I disagree, if a top tier coach came here we would see the difference immediately. We already know what we see in Manny and it's the same ****!
I'm not saying we'd go undefeated or win a championship but we'd see a real difference.
I get what your saying but, what elite coach is going to come here?

Actually, Texas is an example that makes his case look stupid. Throwing money at coaches is ineffective more often than not.
yep, I have made that point on this board for years. HC=5m DC=1m OC=1m and what did that get em. One chip that Mack was outcoached by Pete Carrol but Vince Young played out of his mind, and it never happened again lol I would say about the only gaurantee out there for a chip is Urban with a free pass to do what he wants, thats as close to a gaurantee that exists

We have to pay. Regardless what a lot of porsters think, Miami is definitely a place that can win a championship; just like Richt said but we have to pay. I guarantee if we said we'd pay at least 7 million plus, they would come. Besides, it doesn't even have to be an elite coach but ffs this administration has **** the bed for almost 20 years!!

they coulda hired Butch for half what they paid Mork, fact. woulda left plenty of green to get top notch oc/dc they blew it. If all you had to do is pay the piper, Texas would have to add on a seperate room for natty"s and so would aTm. Its not entirely aboiut the money, being a good fit to start with has alot to do w it. Chris Peterson would be a great case in point

Oh I completely agree, I'm just tired of people constantly saying that a great coach wouldn't come here. If we finally opened the wallet, they'd come.

At least we didn’t lose to ULM. This article is pretty fitting. Talks about how they realized as a program that they could lose to anybody regardless of how much more talent they have or how much better their coaching staff is. Why? Because you can’t win on talent and coaching alone. You need a culture of excellence. We don’t have that and haven’t since the turn of the century. Previous regimes either didn’t realize this or couldn’t fix it. I think Manny realizes the issue, at least he’s said some things that make me think he sees it. Can he fix though? That remains to be seen, but 4 games in is not enough time to judge.

I remember when Bama fans were ready to run Saban out of town after that loss.

I also remember when Clemson fans were ready to run Dabo out of town.
I would be interested to see how their fan base reacted to that season. Because most of you guys would have wanted to run his *** outta here.

Swinney was regarded as a good recruiter, but there is no doubt that between him and Diaz at they time both were elevated to HC, Diaz was regarded as a vastly superior coach.

No doubt about it, this fan base would have exploded if we had hired Swinney like Clemson did. I would have been unanimous that it was a terrible hire. Compared to the Swinney hire, the Diaz hire looked like a grand slam.

“Guys, guys, the ‘83 national championship team barely got past East Carolina!”

I'll never forget it. One of the most fortunate wins in Canes history. In the final seconds an East Carolina tight end reached up and tipped a pass that was not intended for him. That pass was going smack into the chest of a Pirate wide receiver who was wide open and flashing toward the right pile-on in the east end zone.

Our national championship is gone without the deflection.

The Orange Bowl crowd gasped in relieved disbelief. The East Carolina receiver who was the intended target jumped up and down in agonized disbelief.

Everyone expected a tough game. I forget the exact pointspread but it was hardly lopsided. Maybe -7 to -10 range. Not many joints booked it. East Carolina lost by 1 to Florida State that season and by 7 to Florida. East Carolina 1983 had several NFL players including Earnest Byner, who was a senior.

***

Anyway, I never understand outlier comparisons of this type. The Canes should be compared to another 8-4 caliber program that won a close game as heavy favorite. That happens all the time

Saban had already won a title by that point. That gives you some leeway and the benefit of the doubt.

The article wasn’t drawing a correlation between Saban and Diaz. It was pointing out that coaching and talent don’t mean **** if you don’t have the right attitude and culture. If you think you can get by on talent alone, you’re going to lose. If anything describes the average Miami player over the last 15 years better than that, I’d be shocked.

The article is irrelevant. Saban deserves the benefit of the doubt. Your attempt at using it for something else, as it pertains to us, is comical.

LOL...you obviously didn’t read the article. It’s simply talking about what the program learned from that loss and how it helped propel them to success in the future. The lesson happens to be exactly what this program has needed to learn for many years. These players need to be humbled and realize that they are not good enough to win on talent alone. No matter who is coaching the game, talented teams can lose to significantly less talented teams if they don’t do what it takes to win on and off the field.

Very few guys within this program are doing that, which is why a 2 star transfer from Buffalo is by far our best WR, despite being maybe the 5th or 6th most talented. It’s why Donaldson is a fat slob who looks like he hasn’t ever seen the weight room. It’s why a 2 star true freshman won the LT job.

What did I attempt to use it for other than exactly what I just said? I can see that reading comprehension is clearly not your strong suit.

Read your OP and porst less you Potato.

You mean my two part OP where I was making a point about the article and then afterward made a side comment about Bama fans wanting to run Saban off after that loss and Clemson fans wanting to run off Dabo?

Nuance is clearly completely beyond you.
