We all know the story on Micheal Jackson in our secondary the two years leading to last year. Potential, not huge but potential. Good size, measurables, speed and hands but never seem to excel for a reason in unbeknownst to me. Then boom turnover chains everywhere. Just a superb overall year. Now he’s in the draft convo and ranked by some as the best ACC CB and a top CB nationally for the 2019 draft class.

So who makes that jump this year?

- Trayone in his new role, added bulk maybe sees Najehs level?
- has George Brown figured it out?
- Does Patchan finally stay healthy and becomes a big contributor on the edge?
- Derrick Smith or Romeo Finley flourish as the Nickel Box SS/Nickel LB?
- or to a lesser extent as he’s more ballyhooed, but maybe McClouds massive potential finally culminates in a complete year after two years in the system?

Let me know who you guys think can have that Mike Jack year and maybe even throw in some numbers, scenarios etc.

1. George Brown doesnt seem like the answer at either tackle spot. Not miami caliber talent OR work ethic unless proven otherwise.

2. Patchan is a guy who i believe many would agree has just caught so much bad luck in the injury department its tough to really predict a big season from him but he does have talent that play in 2016 VS FSU where he planted frenchy was a thing of beauty the kid has great talent and work ethic to keep bouncing back from these injuries. Seeing him have a great season would bring me alot of joy due to the tough road he has had to endure here at Miami.

3. Derrick Smith will be one of the stars of this years defense BOOK IT. The kid is the perfect fit for mannys defense as he offers alot of flexibility in either run support or pass coverage. Lets hope he can unseat mccloud just due to the upgrade in pass coverage i cant stand to see one more play where mccloud looks like a fish out of water in pass coverage and getting burned consistently.

4. See above

He's only been here one season but I think Dean will take it up a notch and make some big plays.
People here will be shocked as always when some Senior steps up.

On Offense it will probably be someone like Harris.

Dean is a guy who will hopefully put it togther this year in a big way. His length and speed is unteachable but he obviously struggled last season with both the physicality and technical discipline that was demanded of him in Manny's defense. With that being said he is similar to Willis in that he has NFL talent and this is his last chance to show it on a collegiate level so i expect to see Dean fight hard for that second corner spot with Frierson and Ivey and hopefull step up this seaon and earn himself a shot in the NFL.

I think this is the year Bar Milo puts it all together and snags that coveted eighth lineman spot

I'm a big Derrick Smith fan.

Scott Patchan a good answer as well.

Would be great to see Cager put a real season down on paper.

@sfowler06 stole my answer, but I was going with the sarcasm angle. Nothing would make me happier or make this team better than if that guy suddenly became a 65% passer who could complete a screen pass AND put the ball on the hands of a sprinting Brevin Jordan in the weak spot of the zone 15 yards deep over the middle of the field. IF that were to happen, there would be no one that could stop us. Unfortunately, that is not going to happen.

I know we all know who Deejay Dallas is, but that is still my answer as to who this year's Mike Jackson is. I'm telling you guys, this guy is going to get a lot of time on Sports Center this season and is going to become a national household name. The dude is an absolute studddd and is going to score a lot of touchdowns in a lot of different ways. Think about the hype that Jabrill Peppers got, then pretend he was a real football player and you get Deejay Dallas. He just has that "it". He can truck a dude bigger than him, then outwiggle a dude much smaller than him. Somebody has to be selling bootleg #13 jerseys by now. I know I want one.
