This what I think of Manny’s new hires

I’m happy we got some recruiters on staff & I’m looking forward to seeing how this staff is able to develop these players with a full offseason & complete Spring/Summer/Fall.

I’m still in wait & see when it comes to them playing nothing but upperclassmen, but I’m excited to see what the new additions to the staff brings.

As long as they allow for an open competition to happen at multiple spots particularly at WR, CB, LB & S, then I think we’ll be in good shape moving forward. But if they continue to force feed dudes like McCloud, Wiggins, Pope, Jennings, Steed, Carter etc more snaps than everybody else behind them then we’ll still be back at square 1.

We need an infusion of competition & talent, I’m tired of slow upperclassmen being the shoo-in starters at spots when they routinely make mistakes, blow assignments & just simply don’t play well enough on a week to week basis. We’re a pretty talented team, it’s time to start transitioning the talent on paper to it translating on the field in good production. We need the best 22, not just the guys who have been here for half a decade, just put the best 22 on the field even if that means playing True/Red Frosh.

But the hire I’m obviously most excited about is TRob, he will prove to be a Godsend for this program both in recruiting & improved secondary play. Manny should do all he can to keep him here for at least one more year it will pay dividends for us to keep in the groove of recruiting & player development of the secondary for at least 2 years.
I agree with you... All the favors, promises and politics need not be involved when it's time to pick the starters. PT and spots needs to be earned during the week.

You hear kids say it all the time, "real recognize real". Gotta keep that :****: 100!

I too am cautiously optimistic about these new coaching changes on the defensive side of the house truly paying massive dividends, and only playing the kids who have earned the right to start - regardless of seniority. Hopefully it lights a fire the opposite way; under the upperclassmen knowing the you g guns are coming for their spot. True competition on the practice field will only serve to enhance the product on GameDay. We get back to practices being harder than the actual games, then my friends the U will finally be officially back.

@CaneDog66 Why are you giving the (n) on my comment? What do you disagree with?

Tell the kids you didn't want any contract talk during the season, you're laser focused on this team and how it performs. After that, you'll be justly rewarded based on the success of the season.

Signing day is during the season. That’s a lot to spin while other coaches are saying the school doesn’t believe in him.

If he's winning games, the recruits will see through the other coaches bs. If he's not winning games, the recruits will see that as well. Contracts are overrated in the grand scheme of things. Recruiting is never a reason to extend a coach when they still have answers to make.

The offseason adjustments have been a breath of fresh air no doubt. Let’s hold off on all the extension talk for a guy who is 14-10 here with some hideous losses. I believe he signed a five year deal and I think the team has improved year over year from 2019 to 2020. That being said, I don’t think it would take much to improve a team that lost to FIU and LA Tech in the same season.

This guy should not even be allowed to utter the word extension until at a bare freaking minimum he can win the Coastal or maybe the Cheez it bowl. The offseason accolades can only get one so far.

@Go Canes!! is a certified clown with an agenda. Don’t waste your time. Miami can lose 5 games with all that talent coming back and he will still crown Diaz. Extending contracts to save recruiting is for the marks.

I’m pretty sure he’s a trolling guys for attention. Nobody with any sense would even mention an extension half way through the season. We landed a good staff because he’s **** near gutted the entire coaches room. Now let’s watch and see if he’s learned anything on field. Extend after 10-2/11-1. If not let’s rollinto contract year and make him earn it.

At this point, under coach diaz, it didn't matter about "missed assignments" don't put that on the players, that's been on diaz and his hand held d-co who consistently made excuses after games when it came to opposing offenses with the famous "they showed us something different than what was on film" excuse.

If our offensive and defensive systems both become fundamentally sound, that'll cut down on the so-called "blown assignments". So as of now, it's definitely been all on the coaching, if players are confused, that's coaching!
