This team is sloppy, undisciplined and uninspired. That is a direct reflection on the staff. The penalties are a weekly issue which is a huge red flag.

I also have a hard time with the fact that in this day and age of offensive football the university of Miami who built their brand by being innovative is so insistent on running a pro style offense. This offensive line is a major weakness and anyone can see that. So why aren't we running an offensive style that works to mitigate that weakness? CMU had 8 in the box often and we seemed to be happy to play in a phone booth and run right into 8 man fronts. We should be spreading teams out and making our living from a quick hitting passing game that emphasizes getting the ball to our athletes in space. Why are we wasting time with all this stuff behind center then further compounding the problem by running play fakes against a defense that doesn't respect the run behind an offensive line that cannot hold their blocks? That is a coaching issue. That is misuse of personel to the point of being negligent.


Just imagine what a guy like Josh Heupel could do and would do with our roster. I'm so sick and tired of coordinators who force their style of play on a team regardless of the strengths and weaknesses of that team. I don't understand what Enos is trying to accomplish. It literally makes no sense. Add to that that we play much too slowly on offense. Let's spread teams out and run tempo! Our personnel literally screams out for this. Going to a spread type pass first attack from the shotgun would give us the best opportunity to exploit our personnel and the opposing defense all at once. Defenses would have a close to impossible task trying to cover Jordan, Osborne, Thomas, Harley, Mallory, Wiggins, Harris, and Pope out of a spread set. We won't do that however because we're Miami and at Miami we must be pro style. At Miami we must establish the run first at all costs. Total and complete insanity!

And for the love of God would all of you mouth breathers stop dumping on Jarren Williams? He is a redshirt freshman playing behind a terrible offensive line and playing for an offensive coordinator who insists on putting him under center running play action behind a line that can't block. All of that and the kid is completing 70% of his passes with NO interceptions through 4 games. Point the finger where it should be pointed and that is at the coaching staff!

I don't know if I'd say the team's uninspired. I actually think they've bought into Manny & #TNM. Regardless, that won't overcome the Swiss cheese OL (worst I've ever seen at Miami) & predictable defensive playcalling. Baker is out of his league. While his defense is similar to Manny's, I don't think he has a good feel for when to bring pressure or how to disguise his blitzes. Enos is handcuffed by the combination of a first-year starting QB playing behind an OL that's getting owned on every passing down by Central ******* Michigan's DL. Even though we lost to UF & UNC, I'm less hopeful about our immediate future after this game than I was after either of the two L's. I don't think we're anywhere near as close as it seemed after beating ND a couple of years ago. We were outplayed & outscored after the opening drive, at home, by Central ******* Michigan. This was sobering and a reality check to what I thought this team was capable of within the next couple of years. I'll ride or die with this team regardless, but man...I can't remember ever feeling like this after a win.
 
Jarren cannot hit on the deep ball. His 0 int stat is all smoke and mirrors. He's dinking and dunking with 5-10 yard throws, which are of course high percentage passes, thus explaining his high completion %. He still holds onto the ball too long and is often indecisive. I'm not impressed with Williams thus far and i say that as someone who was on the hype train being that he went to high school about 15 minutes up the road from where my mom lives.

Good post. I'm in agreement. This was quite sobering and it brought us right back to reality. That reality is that this offensive line is making it nearly impossible for our offense to function. As far as Jarren is concerned, I don't understand why so many are as hard on him as they are. When you take everything into consideration I think the kid has done an admirable job under the circumstances! Williams will continue to improve and right now he is the least of our problems. To be honest his 70% completion percentage to go along with his zero interceptions are extremely impressive considering the fact that he is immediately under siege as soon as he goes into his pass drop.

With Enos I like his offense just fine generally speaking but I don't get it in the context of how our team is currently built. We don't have the offensive line necessary to establish the run from the get go. To be fair that same offensive line doesn't allow us the luxury of having a conventional pro style passing game much less a pro style passing game based on play action. Like I said above we need to run a quick hitting passing game out of the shotgun from spread formations with an emphasis on getting the ball to our athletes in space. Then we should mix in tempo and no huddle. We need to push the ball up the field and be a fast offense. Instead we have been playing the football equivalent of a half court offense.

I couldn't agree more about Baker. Dude has absolutely no feel for the game and frankly he is in over his head.

I understand your concerns. The reason I cut Williams more slack is that he is playing behind a historically bad offensive line and Enos isn't doing him any favors.

IMO, as all teams have completed their "pre-season" games, they are starting to execute, identify playmakers and build chemistry. We on the other hand still can't beat D-1 (or whatever the new classification is) teams, can't block D-2 DLines, DB's give up chunk/1st downs on critical downs and the offense is as exciting as a Mormon church service. We are not a division or any other caliber championship team. It is what it is.

Jarren has been over 10 ypa the past 2 weeks. That would be good for top 10 in the country if carried out over the first 4 games. He was 8 vs UNC, and 7 vs UF in his first start. We still rank 41st nationally.

Dinking and dunking is fine if you are moving the chains and converting in the redzone. We are efficient but not explosive. You’d like to be both, but efficient has its benefits. For one, it keeps our awful defense off the field.

Additionally, there’s no time for slow developing plays or deep balls. Yes, the occasional go route or deep fade should be incorporated to keep defenses honest. But our OL can’t hold blocks and Enos won’t pass unless it’s off play action. I’d love to see our standard down pass rate that isn’t off play action. I’m not sure that stat is tracked anywhere, but I’d guess we have one of the lowest percentages in the nation. That leads to predictability, which leads to putting up a measly 17 against CM.
 
I’m convinced we lose to FSU, Louisville, and dare I say Duke. Team plays like trash. Whether it’s offense or defense they just sit around and wait for someone else to make a play. No “dogs” any where on this team but Russeau. Only player going out there making **** happen. I watch football all day Saturday and I see teams with receivers taking over the game. Secondaries completely shutting down these high scoring air raid offenses, d lineman dominating oline. And here’s the kickers, it be Freaking Temple, Akron, schools like that. Can’t tell me these schools have more talent than UM. But what difference i do see is passion and discipline. These guys play with they hair on fire, they play like it’s the last game of the season every play. They make smart plays, always in position. Turning on a UM game at 4pm after watching those teams is depressing like wtf going on here
 
I don't want to hear **** about the OL, when Enos did what worked the OL did their jobs, when Enos started to push his bs PA agenda the OL looked real ******. It's crazy how some of us never coach, but can tell how simple things like, having Wider OL splits, spreading the opponent defense out more, and calling plays out of the shotgun, can easily help the offense perform better; but the professionals, such as Enos and Richt, remain stubborn.
 
Maybe this is the wake up call this team needs and starts to perform better!!!!!!! Who am I kidding we ******* suck man.

I’m not sure why this wasn’t obvious to people as soon as we found out we were starting two freshman at the tackle spots. And, as we are finding out, the state of the OL is just the beginning of the issues.
 
Can't argue with the OP. For the rest of the year just consider ourselves the dog in every game and be pleasantly surprised when we pull some out.

Right now, to believe we can't lose any game on our schedule is just unrealistic.
