A lot of similarities between the team we had last year and the Gators this year.

Our defense was better than their will be, their special teams will be better than ours was last year.

It’s a dangerous receipe for them to get destroyed. All the talk of them over looking us becuase we don’t play in the SEC and had a bad game vs Wisconsin has got to have their coaches nerverous internally.

Diaz remembers 31-4. He was there. He knows the history, and I'm sure it will come through on his pregame speech.

The Wisconsin narrative is my favorite one. If you have someone tell you that Miami in 2019 will be good, bad, indifferent....whatever....and their basis has ANYTHING to do with that Wisconsin game, walk away immediately. That person is clueless.

The game of football is ALL about emotion and motivation. Bowl games especially. Look no further than UF's own game last year. You think Michigan wanted to play that game? They were 60 minutes away from a likely spot in the playoffs, and they got blasted by OSU. The peach bowl? Who cares? Meanwhile, UF was incredibly motivated to win that game....they were coming off a 4 win season, and they've got a shot to win a NY6 game?? It's the **** superbowl.

Same with the Sugar Bowl. Who thinks Texas is up 28-7 against UGA if the game is played in October? Not a **** soul. But Texas is building, and that game was very important to them. UGA is playing for Natty's, and they were BEATING Bama in the 4th quarter of the SECCG in their last game. They lost, season over. Who the **** cares about the Sugar Bowl??

So be very, very careful how much stock you put into bowl games. If people really think the performance against Wisconsin is in any way indicative of the effort Miami will put forth Saturday, they're retarded and in for a big surprise.

Can you blame the gates for being confident? They beat a top 10 Mich team 41-15 to end the season while we lost 35-3 to a so-so Wisky team.

You're joking, right? Right? They beat a "top 10" Michigan team that was missing a lot of their star defensive players, and that mentally was not checked into the game. Similar to our bowl game against Wisky, where from the opening snap you could see that the Canes didn't even want to be there. Neither of those games have any bearing.

I would be incredibly surprised if the game is not close either way. Normally these early season games are a little sloppy, and I don't think either team will be perfectly efficient. Defense tends to be a little ahead of the offense as well. And IMO both defenses will have the advantage over their counterpart. You can see that most agree, the total has dropped 5 points.

Unless there's "fluke" plays like bad snaps resulting in turnovers, fumbles deep in your own territory, etc, I really don't think either team can pull away. Not with these defenses and not with the effort that will be put forth by both sides. This is going to be a HARD fought game. Can Miami make enough plays on offense in the 2nd half to both score points and not put the defense in terrible situations? I can see something like 23-20 Miami.
Agree on the close game and neither offense being able to run away w/out some flukes. The only caveat is our run D...their RB's are physical, and we've had issues in the past when we get behind and our D sees our O clearly can't do anything that day. I think their OL and the rivalry game aspect negate this happening though.

So much riding on Enos and Barry for us. I have felt for years our O (personnel) wasn't as bad as it looked. cmr's scheme (or lack thereof) literally put us at such a disadvantage with our predictability and simplicity. I'm counting on Enos creating some advantages for us finally (or at least a **** level playing field). So excited to see how it goes down on Sat.

Absolutely agree. A win on 8/24 immediately legitimizes Manny Diaz and his staff, and simultaneously all but annihilates any hopes UiF had of playoff aspirations. Would also be huge for recruiting, showcasing TNM while giving us a leg up against an in-state rival. Tremendous opportunity for the program, the staff, and these players... and the best part is, I truly believe they all know it.

Gonna come down to JW. Enos called him elite at times and that’s coming from a guy who coached Tua. High praise. He’s also going to have to win it with his feet. Expect a few runs by design and Tate to make a couple of appearances. I think JW gives the team best chance to win b/c he can play out of the center and shotgun. A 1st year Enos offense is a Major upgrade over a 3rd year Richt O.

Franks is an ok QB at bestAnd like someone posted before he can run. He’ll dink and dunk his way to try and neutralize the front 7 advantage UM has on D. They’ll try to space out the D to open up the run game, specifically runs by Franks.

Last thing, Manny is a first year HC but has been w the program 4 years now. Mullen been there 2. Manny isn’t Coker type filler either. Manny knows his team better than Mullen if anything.

So all that to say JW is the key. The good? Franks never been in a qb competition like the one JW just went through. Secondly JW just beat out a Mr Florida and a National Player of the Year. Those are facts
