You got any links to full games? I know their OC was here in Miami with Diaz/Lashlee and he is Lashlee disciple (followed him I think from Aub to Uconn to Smu to Miami to SMU before Diaz plucked him away)I’ve watched almost every snap of his ‘25 season and was surprisingly impressed with the Duke pass concept design. They schemed a lot of stuff open via matchups.
Nah mane we back on 2024 train.. Last year was TOUGH with limited QBAgain it will come down to Dawson not ******* it up.
and if mensah is a heisman candidate you’re going to say he called his own plays like people think cam did 90% of the time. Coaching is a thankless job man lolBeck wasn't calling the plays.
And at times, I was wondering if anyone was.
Beck did fine - he followed the script. Just could have been given a better script.
I actually learned that today while I was describing how he got Mensah clear looks. Another board member (offline) mentioned his name and background. You got any links to full games? Yea that was Lashlee right hand guy, I remember when he bought him in.. Made sense Diaz took him to install scheme and they just do easy offense stuff that stresses the **** out of defenses if they not prepared. I wanna see he eyes move and not just the easy throw stuff that lashlee is known to cook up. I know Dawson always talks about his offense being progression based.I actually learned that today while I was describing how he got Mensah clear looks. He did Mensah some favors. Especially vertically down the middle of the field. Heavy Lashlee vibes with some of the pass concepts. Makes total sense. Couldn’t tell you a thing about their run game bc I focused all of my attention on their pass game.
Thank you good man.He was the guy I wanted LAST year and was ****ed we never got him even to visit. (Before I knew Duke had him sewed up midseason)Shiiiieeet. I was collecting links for @skyman and you beat me to it. Nice.
@skyman
check out the Clemson and Cal games. I try to pay attention to footwork. Shifting, shuffling, and either resetting or throwing off platform. I also try to see if everything is predetermined.
He makes some nice plays in those two games against decent defenders.
You already know how much I want to increase the 10 personnel groupings.
Vaughn/Moore/Wingo to one side.
bunch formations and trips with Toney, Barkate, and Jacobs/Wingo/upton.
Let’s go vertical more.
We play clemson, @ Irish!...that will help, and we always play up to the caliber of the opponent! We had issues playing down to lessor opponents! I think that myth is gone....Let’s keep it real. I love Beck, and I’m grateful for everything he did to help bring back The U, but he always felt like one of those early-2010s Bama QBs, before they started rolling out real gunslingers. Manage the game, run the ball, and don’t **** it up.
If Beck had been on Duke last year, does anyone honestly think he would’ve put up numbers anywhere close to what Mensah did? The answer is without a doubt no. He has a skill set that is effective on a loaded team, but he doesn't command the offense.
This offense is going to be ELITE with Mensah. The best RB room in America. The most exciting receiver in the country. And other pass catchers with legitimate talent.
And don’t kid yourself about the O-line. Mirabal and Cristobal would cut their legs off before they ever walked out a bad offensive line. At worst it will be solid.
The run game might even be better than last year because teams won’t be able to stack the box and press our receivers in man coverage all game.
My only concern about this upcoming season is being surprised in the playoffs because we're so used to stomping inferior opponents. We are going to massacre the ACC.
That's gonna make him even more dangerous! You're not gonna be able to bracket baby Jesus! We have speed and a possession receiver with cooper!!They also played well against Clemson and some other talented players, but yeah, some numbers came against poor defenses.
To be fair, Mensah himself played alongside inferior talent.
Barkate, their clear #1, will unlikely be a featured player in our offense. Great complement in certain formations, though.
Is this about Mensah? If so, they threw the ball downfield an incredible amount. I don’t have the numbers, but watching the games I was surprised by the frequency. I’m talking 25+ yard attempts. That impacts the %s.I don’t know about all that. I just think his deep ball just wasn’t good this year and his mobility was never a strength.
More 10 and 20 personnel and less 12 . Get our best guys on the field . Rb and Wr is a strength.
And a WR who had 17 ypc average in the SECWe will have:
Second most prolific passer in the nation by yardage
Miami tops receiver from 2025
West Virginias top receiver
Dukes top receiver
Veteran backs and an older Pringle
We’re gonna put up points
thought I was responding to someone, but no. It was about Beck.Is this about Mensah? If so, they threw the ball downfield an incredible amount. I don’t have the numbers, but watching the games I was surprised by the frequency. I’m talking 25+ yard attempts. That impacts the %s.
From the games I’ve watched, he was elite in the intermediate game, which will be a great change for us. Depends what you mean by mobility. He’s not a runner or scrambler, but in the games I watched he shifted his feet and reset decently enough. He has to improve this area of his game, so we’ll see how/if he extends plays.
Lot of pass concepts were schemed up, though, as I mentioned in another post.
For all the good that Mensah is he will need to learn to do what Carson Beck did very well which was take the check down and the routes given by the defense. Can't play hero ball all the time. Cam struggled with this at timea in the games we fell behind was ignoring the guarenteed yards trying to make something bigger happen. That will be Dawson's job over the next 6 months.Let’s keep it real.
