This offense could be really good

Am I more or less optimistic about the offense after week 1 than I was going into the season?

I’d say just very slightly less, but I was very, very high on them coming in. Maybe unrealistically so.

But the passivity and passing game was disappointing. To be fair, it was week 1, against a very good team. One with a young QB, so there really wasn’t any need to go full-bore on offense. We’ll look a lot different in a month than we did on Sunday. But I thought the team really had an opportunity to take the game by the throat, and didn’t. 2 field goals after turnovers is disappointing. 10 passes in the 2nd half is disappointing. But I still feel this will be a Top ~20 offense when it’s all said and done. We just need to get Beck as many reps with these kids as possible, and quickly.

If you step on their throat and run them out of the stadium, you’re probably number 2 in the country right now and the talk of cfb. Which would trickle down to recruiting.

The way they handled it was so soft.

Marion's speed is such a huge differentiator. Will win us games even not being the primary target just by forcing the cover his way. This WR group has the makings of something special if they keep building off each other.

@OrangeBowlMagic and you are just having preseason Kool Aid withdrawal. I doubt we play that conservatively in the vast majority of our games. Vector is up not down.
 
If Marty doesn't trip over his own offensive lineman on 3rd and 1 when we were already up 14 late in the 3rd quarter.....I have a feeling we end up going up by 3 scores on that drive and the perception of our offense is much different.

Bottom line is we got spoiled last year. We had a historic offense that was off the charts in terms of efficiency. This year's offense is simply going to be "very good" and we're all going to have to live with that champagne problem.

This is a much more balanced TEAM....and I think most will end up liking this version of Miami much better than the previous iteration. In a perfect world we'd have this year's team/depth with Cam and this team would probably be ranked #1 in the country right now.

It's going to be a good season. I like what I see.

Fair. I don’t disagree. We’ll see.

If we do, I owe a lot of people apologies because I said all summer we didn’t bring Beck here to run the ball 50 times into the A-gap. But we clearly didn’t trust the passing game on Sunday, so we shall see.

If I’m Dawson, I throw the ball every play on Saturday. This group needs live reps, badly.

Concur. I don’t want to hear our offense may have been tethered because the timing isn’t there. Now is great time to get some timing, yes it’s Bethune but they can hit you and it counts. No better time than the present to get this **** going. Our playmaker OL will have to take a backseat on this one.

Bro I was right there with you. Been playing mental gymnastics ever since the game, hoping it was the secondary play, or the first game timing, or who knows what, but also can't imagine we don't attack teams with the QB we have.
