This Loss Is On Mark Richt

It's like he can't decide on a play or needs more time to make a decision so he just reverts back to the run. I thought he was going to go play action on the first run and it obviously would have been there since they were selling out for the run. I get he was rusty with play calling (which he readily admitted) but we are over half way through the season The rust should be knocked off by now. He has shown he can move the ball (like when we were down) but then reverted back to the same crap that wasn't working earlier. What happened to the throws to thelp TE?

In many ways I'm more encouraged than I have been all season. For a chunk of that game the offensive style actually resembled what I expected when Richt was hired. We actually got in power formations and ran the ball with authority. We had a few wrinkles out of those formations. I have to believe it will be the foundation for the remainder of the season. If we sit in the shotgun with RPO crap we'll be bullied and embarrassed. The power formations allow weak or mediocre players to outperform their true level, and it instills a more confident and aggressive attitude throughout the entire team.

I'm not saying I appreciated the back to back I formation runs that were smothered before the punt when it was 20-20. After we established the I formation there should have been far greater variety, including more play action. I was secretly hoping for that fake toss/spin slant to the tight end that I described last week. We were seemingly setting that up with pitches that we hadn't shown all year. The variety we did display generally succeeded.

I think we were so shell shocked after the prior 3 weeks, and then the first quarter avalanche of this game, that we switched to power sets for self preservation, and once it worked we weren't fully prepared for what to do next.

Our defensive personnel is weak by Miami standards. That's what stood out today. Our defensive tackles were pushed around when it mattered. Jenkins was abused on the 42 yard touchdown run. Wiped out to the inside by Bivin. Norton has more belly than ability.

I wasn't feeling too bad once I projected superior defensive tackles into those spots, along with maturity from the freshmen linebackers, and increasing reliance on power sets on offense. I have to believe Richt will understand the necessity for that.

There was a consolation prize in my wager of Notre Dame +2.5. That was another example of the proper use of preseason ratings. A highly ranked team from preseason was home underdog to a team ranked nowhere in preseason. That's the way to do it. Notre Dame was rated in the #10 range. I always get a kick out of fans who mock those ratings as September unfolds. I know darn well I'll take advantage as the season progresses.

There was a flood of Irish money in the final half hour. Notre Dame crossed back to 1 point favorite entering Saturday and then it pushed up to -2.5 and even some scattered -3 offerings at game time.

Worst offensive scheme I've witnesses in 30+ years of watching football.

With all respect to Awsi Dooger...I saw nothing tonight that encouraged me. He only opened things up and actually attacked the short/intermediate area of the field ONCE WE WERE DOWN BY 17. Then when we fight our asses off and tie the game, he reverts to type.

The man can't call plays. He's killing the offense and subsequently hurting the D with all the early 3 and outs or short drives. I saw the same patterns tonight that ****ed the **** out of me during the FSU, UNC, and VT games.

Yes, the play calling improved after the 1st quarter. But because of the ineptitude in the 1st quarter, we got into a 17-0 hole and ND is terrible. If we're playing a team with a pulse it's 25-0.

And while it got better afterwards, those back to back run up the middle calls late in the 4th were infuriating. He still needs to hire an OC. Period.

ND is terrible but guess what? SO ARE WE lol..

Bad offensively, coaching and players.. Bad secondary minus Corn.. NO depth at lb and some of our dl are injured.. Miami is a bad team, always was.. ***** funny how people say we should have won this game or that game.. Why? What about this team is better than the teams we lost to?

These posts are dumb. The loss wasn't on Richt. The loss was on Richt, the loss was on Kaaya, the loss was on the OL. The loss was on the defense. The loss was on everyone. Richt also deserves praise for adjusting, for calling the onside kick. His first quarter or 1.5 quarters were horrible. He called a very good game after that.

100 yards of offense in 1st half
200 yards of offense in 2nd half

Against a **** defense. His 3rd quarter play calling was really good. The adjustments were perfect and putting ND on their heels. And then he got conservative again late in the 4th and it was back to runs for a loss and sacks.

The only reason his 3rd quarter play calling was better was because we were down and it was out of desperation...the same script we saw in the other losses. What happened as soon as we fought our asses off and tied the game? Homeboy reverted to type.

I'm thoroughly convinced someone has hacked 1985's account. He's always been a good poster but he's gone off the rails with the Richt excuses and defense.

Good observation. I've thought this as well. He doesn't seem very quick witted or sharp calling plays.

Even in interviews he admitted that he'd ***** thkngs up and Kayaa would correct him. He also has a **** memory (players names, plays in a game, etc). He just seems mentally drained from his time at UGA.

That's just it, I'm not blindly defending Richt. I've ripped him plenty. I've said he deserves blame. I'm just trying to be rational and I'm trying to look at the whole picture. I'm trying to give Richt a chance, more than 8 games, to let him get better players in here, and players he actually wants. If it doesn't work then, then I'll fly the ******* plane. We've all been ****ed in the head because of Golden and his talk of "his system" that when any coach or any poster says it, it's automatically a non-starter, even though at times it's a valid point. Look, I'm not happy, I'm as upset as everyone else. Maybe more so because I was very happy about the Richt hire last year. I'm just not ready to call for his head or say he sucks right now. I'd like to see him coach with a better OL and a better QB, and some players who weren't coached by Golden for 2-3-4 years.

1985 used to be a rational guy. He sounds like a mixture of bomb, Jagr, and Baghdad Bob in this thread. Ooph.

Yeah it's quite bizarre.

Again, bring something of substance

Not sure why you're so angry. All you've done in this thread is throw a tantrum and continuously insult other posters. Who hacked your account?

I'm not angry, I'm annoyed at posters like you who are blind to reality. I'd like you to show me where I'm acting any different than I ever have. Because I'm not being irrational like you? Because I don't want to fly a banner 8 games into a coach's tenure? Because I don't want to pack up Richt's office now? Because I have criticized Richt? A lot? Because I have said these losses are on Richt too. Just not all on Richt? Please tell me.

You're really worked up. I suggest you simmer down before you have a stroke. It's nice to see that you've appointed yourself the arbiter of irrational v. Rational in true bomb-esque fashion.

I'm being rational as well...I know what I'm seeing on the field. I guess all i can say is I disagree with you to the highest degree a human being can disagree with another. You're entitled to your opinion but I really did think you were hacked.

I smell a little "Original Canesfan" as well in there. Either way, excuses are already flying. It's the norm for the beginning of every tenure.

I'm not even kidding...Richt looks to me like he's checked out. The tank might be empty and retirement might be on the way. He just doesn't look right.

I'm not throwing out excuses though. I'm blaming Richt too. I'm just not ready to give up on him, and I'm blaming just Richt. But, whatever you want to do, or believe is fine.
