This is what has been missing at Miami for a very long time.

I’m under the impression he gave both Gattis and Steele power to run whatever they wanted with the belief they would be successful….

Really think against what most people think of what Mario wants to run that when it was obvious it wasn’t working he bridged the gap between TVD and Gattis and told them to figure it out because there is no way we should be THAT BAD on offense
This is what happens when CIS does something we normally don't do.

CRITICAL THINKING.

Yeah I don’t, but it seems like you’re the kind of dude to only blame coaches.

Fact of the matter is Miami is different than Oregon. Scratch everything that happened there - completely new scenario. He is **** well aware now he doesn’t have the players to operate that system. Recruits don’t like it either, and the honeymoon is over - so now we see if he is truly stubborn trying to jam a square peg in a round hole, or he adapts and you eat crow.

We’ll see - I hope it’s the latter. Can’t say the same for some on this board that are openly rooting for failure - and in essence, rooting against Miami’s success.
When did I blame the players?

I have been saying for weeks now that the majority of our problems are corching related.

His players will not make his offense look like a juggernaut. He had top notch talent at Oregon, and his offense never was a juggernaut.

It is what it is. I’m NOT rooting for failure, I just don’t have blinders on. The data from his previous stops and now here shows that he prefers a certain system, which is antiquated and is doomed to fail.

We shall revisit this in a few years.

After 7 games Mario this Mario that he’s stubborn he’s set in his ways he isn’t flexible. Poor game day coach he should of did this he should of done that. And let’s not hold the players accountable who actually pretend to play the game. You guys pay too much attention to the media and the sport casters who 99% of them never saw the inside of a locker room or played a sport in their life.

Also, way to deflect and not give a rebuttal when it comes to Lincoln Riley’s offensive scheme compared to Mario and Gattis’ system.

I have to give you credit on that one. You would have been pretty dumb to try to argue that point. Coaching and schemes matter more than ever in today’s CFB.

I agree with you 100000%

Your post was the most recent one at the time so I just replied to.

On offense give me a schematic mastermind. When you add in the talent Mario can recruit we’d score 40 a game

But noooooo…. Physicality trumps all

This is something we can definitely agree on.

Scheme and play calling matters. We’re seeing inferior teams beat or challenge way more talented teams on a weekly basis. Mario needs to accept this fact and evolve.

Agreed

I also hate the generally accepted notion that being a new school creative plsycaller immediately means pass heavy.

Lincoln Riley is elite, but if you’ve watched him call plays his running plays and schemes are equally creative

Mike McDaniel is another example of creativity in the run as well as pass

Gattis sucks at both

Question, would any other HC lose to MTSU and Duke with the talent on this squad? We should've beat A&M, APP St did with less talent. I've always been optimistic but its a struggle with this complete staff and what we see on the field. Our offense is pathetic and our defense can't defend, other than that we hear Mario is the answer. Never expected a year like this. We aren't just losing we are getting blown out. Mario looks angry all the time while he collects his 8 mil per and we regress. Oh, I forgot...it's the medias fault, they raised our expectations to high. Don't want excuses, want progress. Manny beat Duke 47-10 at Duke. Please tell me why I should be optimistic again...I am finding it quite difficult and I am to old to wait 4 or 5 years.

See...this is the problem. Just sticking in great players doesn't make your team good.

We have better players than MT....
Agree but none of them we're getting open and I can guarantee you if you've seen addison play he's getting open all day against MT.

He might have not regressed, but his numbers and impact would be pedestrian compared to playing in a Lincoln Riley offense.

You cannot possibly imagine that Mario and Gattis are anywhere close to Riley when it comes to offensive scheming and play calling.
Agree they are not on his level combined. LOL

The team has also lacked leaders for over a decade. And by leaders I mean the kind of leadership we saw from the 2000-2001 Canes. Players driven to accomplish a NC, a who drove each by competition on the practice field. Ask Ed Reed and Reggie Wayne how difficult the practices were. Mutual respect, but a love-hate relationship.

Players of that mindset started to dwindle after the program slowly eroded in 2003 through today.

And to be clear, we haven't had the same caliber of coaches either.

Ed and Reggie were roommates to boot...practices from 95-2000 were pure insanity...

If I was in his spot, I'd do the same thing," he said. "You've got to be able to get a spark. When your quarterback's not playing good, then you've got to be able to make a change like that. For me, stats aren't everything. My No. 1 stat is to get the W. Our ultimate goal is to win the National Championship.”

For those who don’t know, these were the words of starting QB DJ Uiagalelei, of Clemson, after being benched for true freshman Cade Klubnik midway through the game this past Saturday. By all accounts DJ has/had been playing extremely well this year but Dabo felt the team needed a spark and it worked brilliantly. For far too long we’ve had a team full of “me, me, me” guys and nobody cares about their brother out there beside them. There’s no concern about winning, competing, letting your teammates down. I’ve been reading and hearing from a bunch of people who say that when this team loses there’s no look of concern, frustration, anger, or ANYTHING from our team. I used to put most of the blame on coaches when teams play this poorly, but where is the pride or sense of competing coming from this team? Nowhere. The old Miami teams didn’t need a coach to tell them to tackle hard, get fired up for a game, not commit 18 penalties, not turn the ball over 8 times in a game. I just thought it was interesting that while I was reading that response from DJ I was left thinking...where are those type of dudes on our squad? Nowhere to be found, and that’s a major issue.
Lmao what the **** else would he say?

I agree somewhat but DUKE has competed in every game they've played.

Now MT was a real disaster considering they got blown out after beating us.

I agree completely. That’s why it’s perplexing to me why Mario brought in Gattis to run such an ineffective and antiquated system.

Alabama, Taint (OSU), Tennessee, and Ole Miss all run the ball effectively, but they do so out of the spread, and with creative play calling. They also don’t try to force the run if it’s not there. Mario needs to stop being hard headed and take what the numbers defensively dictate.

What's missing isn't guys like DJ. Unfortunately, that's our problem. We have too many guys like DJ on the team. Plenty of stars but little production.

No offense but this is a very simplistic and superficial view. It is a bit more complicated than this.

There were so many more issues in those games than just a WR getting open (BTW there were many plays with open WRs). It was not the only issue. It would not have helped the OL, the D the special teams or TVD from throwing the ball into the dirt to wide open WRs.

They were not prepared to play MT and other games and it was clear as day. Do we beat MT with a few players like that...Maybe. But that's MT and we should need him to beat MT. Besides, he would probably be just as ill-prepared as the rest of the team.

It is not just about getting better players.
