This is the worst loss in school history

Until last night, I was stuck on how in the F did we lose to Duke. After last night, it's crystal clear. Terrible loss? Yes. But, we lLOOKED terrible as expected by most of us., which is bad. Why did 90+% of us on CIS see this coming, but Rickets did not?

In terms of disappointment and sheer offensive ineptitude, the 1994 Fiesta Bowl loss of 29-0 to Arizona comes to mind. I think that might be the best comparison I can think of in terms of how I feel about where we stand.

And, actually, I feel worse now because at least then we finished 9-3, not 7-6, and we lost to a team that finished 10-2, not 8-5.

Very similar game in many respects. We were a small favorite but the game didn't hold much significance compared to recent seasons or our own expectation. Then we drew a blue collar team with plenty of no-nonsense rugged athletes. Teddy Bruschi was on that Desert Swarm defense.

I remember Arizona scored easily on the opening drive and I already sensed the outcome was not in doubt, just like last night.

Miami played two quarterbacks in that game -- Frank Costa and Ryan Collins -- and both threw interceptions while displaying overall ineptitude.

After the game my dad was so deflated he was begging me to give him some good news about the program. I forget what I said but I remember it worked.

Sorry, I still think the '86 Fiasco Bowl loss to Ped State is still the worst IMHO

Definitely the one that hurts the most. That was the only championship game loss in which we outplayed the opponent and basically gave the game away. Penn State couldn't do a thing with Jerome Brown and Paterno conceded as much.

With a victory the '86 team would be debated alongside '01 as greatest ever not only for Miami but in college football history.

Clemson and Virginia were much worse.

By a landslide.

Zero reason to get skunked 58-0 by Clemson at home when Miami had a serviceable offense with Kaaya, Walton, Yearby—a much better o-line and good receivers; Coley, Berrios, Lewis, Scott and Waters.

Miami had worse quarterback and offensive line play in 2018 than it did during the 5-6 season of 1997.

Same to be said for a 48-0 home loss in the Orange Bowl finale against an average-at-best Virginia team. There was literally NOTHING worse than sending the Orange Bowl out that way.

Wisconsin, like Miami this year, and a rough season—but don't mistake that for lack of talent. 13-1 last year and #4 to start the season. Wheels fell off a bit, but they still had the players they had last year—with Taylor that much better, having won the Doak Walker Award.

Last night was a nightmare, but zero reason to pour gas on the flame—with no long-term memory about the garbage this program has been through. Zero chance that was the "worst loss ever". You sound like some IG model calling her morning latte the "best freakin coffee ever and ever of all time".
