This season confirmed what the fan base has known for 15 years, which is, with the talent we attract, a coastal division and a OB appearance should be the "floor" for accomplishments. A lot of people have propositioned the question: "if told you in August, we beat FSU, win 10 games, win the coastal and head to to the OB, would you be happy?" The obvious answer is "yes." However, we can now put an asterisk next to the answer. We all have a sour taste in our mouths, because of how we just played the last two games. Success next year is not promised (just ask FSU), and being right "there" and falling so flat is such a tough pill to swallow. Instead of the last couple of weeks exposing how close we were to "being back," it showed how far away we are. I don't mean this in a completely negative tone, for the first time in 15 years, we not only trending in the right direction, but the results are showing on the field.
Similar to the game against WVU last year, I think the game against Wisconsin is critical to perception. Winning the game brings back the good vibes to the recruiting trail and spring football. We can then start to address the issues that plagued the team this season.
