The solution is simple. Mario needs to have multiple come to Jesus moments at this point in his career.

1. He needs to look in the mirror and say to himself, I suck as a gameday coach. I bring no value as an X's and O's guy. So I need to keep my opinion or beliefs out of what style of ball we play on O and D.

2. He needs to hire proven/elite coordinators, with recent success, who have unequivocally had that success on their own.

3. He needs to hire coordinators with modern schemes and give them full autonomy. Meaning, allow them to run their own style, bring in their own coaches and stay the **** out of the way.

4. He needs to hire an analyst who is solely dedicated to understanding clock management and assist in that aspect of the game.

5. He needs to focus his efforts on what he is good at. Recruiting, facility upgrades, being a figurehead.

If he does not do the above, at best he is a 9-10 win coach in the ACC even with 85 5 stars on the roster. Dig deeper into his time at Oregon. In 3 of his 4 years, he managed two 4 loss seasons and one 3 loss season. He did that with his own, elite players. He did that at a time where the PAC 12 was at it's absolute worst in recent memory. USC was a **** show during his time there. Stanford was a **** show. Washingtown was down. The best competition was Utah and we saw what they did to Oregon twice last year, who had FAR SUPERIOR talent.

Mario lost 5 games in 4 years to opponents with sub .500 records while at Oregon. He was 7-7 against ranked opponents. He is NOT a good coach no matter how you look at it.

Look at how much better Oregon looks this year under Lanning versus how they looked last year under Mario. Lanning is getting way more out of that team compared to what Mario did. For example, Oregon has scored 40+ points in 8 straight games, has a bonafide top 10 offense and is a legitimate playoff contender. Mario managed to eclipse 40+ points 7 times in the 2021, 2020 and 2019 seasons combined! And in 2019 he had a generational QB in Justin Herbert.

Lanning, who is a defensive coach, has turned Oregon into a top offense in the country in year 1. How? Because he hired an OC who runs a more modern offense and gave him autonomy over the offense. And they are doing this with a QB they brought in, who was a bum before and have now resurrected into a likely Heisman finalist.

I mentioned this prior, when I read moronic posts about how it's not possible to turn a losing program around in 1 year, and showed just how many teams have accomplished that this year alone. TCU, USC and LSU are all top 8 teams in the country who all had losing records last year. Those results alone debunk that Mario needs years or his own players to have success. And if he does, he is a far worse coach than a lot of us already believed.

This off season will tell us everything we need to know about Mario and what his future will look like at UM. To me, it's really simple. I don't believe firing or moving on from a handful of current coaches is enough. I truly believe the entire staff needs to be gutted. Why? Becuase which truly, elite/great coordinators are okay with not choosing their own position coaches? As it is, it will be difficult IMO to bring in great coordinators after the **** show that has taken place this year, and the past 20 years of UM football, but you can't make it harder by not allowing those coordinators to bring in their own guys. He just made that mistake with this current staff. He cannot repeat it again.

Mario has a reputation of meddling to much in the coaching cirlces, so he needs to get the **** out of the way. Make sure he makes it clear that his coordinators will have full autonomy in every aspect of their side of the ball. If he is not able to do that, he will fail, it's that simple.

I am not absolving players of blame. There are plenty of guys who need to be told to seek shelter elsewhere and that is already in the works. I mentioned names prior who are already likely gone and that list continues to grow. 35-40 players from this current roster will be gone. So going into next season 80% of the roster will be Mario's own guys.

Lastly, this was where it should have been telling for any fan that was still on the fence regarding Gattis or just in general of the massive disconnect between this staff and the current players. Xavier Restrepo is the most respected and likeable young man on this roster. The young man is the hardest worker and shows the upmost respect to his teammates and coaches. I can say all of that unequivocally. When he flat out walked by and ignored Gattis on the sidelines yesterday, that was all you needed to see to know just how bad things really are inside that locker room.

You are not wrong, sir. Team chemistry and dynamic seems in the toilet. I interpret this as a cultural divide and lack of talent and depth.

But…

Those players Oregon has now are a result of Mario’s multi year recruiting efforts. Comparing that to Manny’s efforts and what Mario took over is unfair.

This season sucks. Its a disaster on the field and successful off the field via recruiting. That will help. Add the portal and we should be way better next year.

But that offense has to go.

Sorry, I disagree on your 2nd point. The results at Oregon are due to the current coaching staffs success at identifying the correct schemes to utilize said personnel. It's due to proper coaching and development. You don't look INFINITELY better like Oregon does this year, compared to last, especially when running different schemes and with a new staff and say it's just the players.

Explain how Oregon has scored 40+ points in 8 straight games this year, when Mario's archaic offenses managed 40+ points a total of 7 times in the 3 combined seasons prior?

Not defending Mario at all because everyone has valid points and he has made a mess he has to clean up. But to partially answer your question, I think his record at Oregon would be a lot similar to what they have now and his record would definitely be better than 4-5.

We don’t know. How could we know? We don’t have some kind of real life simulation to show us what could be the case. I’m not a Mario apologist. But it’s not as simple as saying that he sucks, the entire coaching staff sucks, and that’s it. I find that incredibly myopic. There are a lot of really great coaches in there. Not all of them suck. So it’s not so black-and-white.

Lanning filled a few gaps in Mario's team. I saw Oregon play last year with a ****tty QB, and they still beat Ohio State. Who's to say Mario wouldn't have made those same adjustments Lanning did.

Mario is doing fine in my opinion. Our team is soft and has a lot of holes. He knows Gattis isnt the answer, but nothing he can do it about it until the season is over. It's just another whole for him to fill in the off season. I fully expect Mario to go crazy in the portal and recruiting for 23 & 24 kids.

Mario has brought in some good talent in the portal and our 23 class is looking good. We will be fine. Mario now knows what each player brings, and has seen what all these players can and cant do. It will be easy for him to make cuts knowing he gave everyone a season to shine and prove they belong on this team.

Mario is a GREAT coach. Recruiting is the base fundamental to winning, and he is one of the best. We arent a LSU team that can bounce back that quick.

I agree with all your bullets, but not your Lanning/Oregon comparisons.

I doubt it. I don’t think he brings Bo Nix.

Of course not. Anyone who states otherwise is full of it. History shows you that Mario's offenses simply don't put up the kind of numbers Oregon is putting up this year.
Also the **** recruits he recruited at qb. He wouldn’t change the offense and bring Nix in. Do they play Utah this year? I wanna see that.

We do know. History is a great teacher. And history shows us Mario's offenses have NEVER put up the numbers Oregon is putting up this year. Not to mention, Lanning and staff brought over Nix from Auburn, not Mario. So he wouldn't have had him at QB.

Couldn’t be more on point!!!

dude you can’t speculate what a player has going through his head that affects his talent or lack there of.. They are all D1 players, yeah some were bad *** in high school and hit their ceiling maybe. But the proof is in the pudding man!! Results!!! Wins/ losses!!!! The stats say it all!! A coaching staff could try to recruit a team this bed and couldn’t ******* do it… This is the biggest **** show I’ve ever seen at any level of football.. If Cristobal can’t find 80 million ways to score a touchdown in more than 15 out of 36 quarters of football, He needs to stop coaching.. he specializes in nothing except recruiting!! And believe it or not you gotta win to recruit more so than recruit to win!!

Brian Kelly is a GREAT coach.

Mario has not earned that distinction. Why is this team MUCH worse than last year’s team with many of the same players? Forget about the records which last years team will fair better, but the actual play on the field is not even close. Last year’s team was guilty of blowing games it had no business blowing, UVA, FSU, UNC. This year’s team is getting embarrassed with not a chance to win against the likes of Duke, FSU and MTSU. None of them great or even good teams.

Great coach? Oh no sir, not today.

You nailed it 100%.

The Restrepo, Van Dyke and QB situations from last night are proof that this staff has completely lost this team and are really just a deer in headlights.

Steele and Strong are 2 of the most experienced coaches in all of football, college and NFL and neither of them can/will get to Mario in that the musical chair QB situation is a mess. If they can’t or won’t get through to Mario to help his game day coaching they like you said are completely expendable.

But we do know this much... Oregon has talent on their roster from top to bottom, and Miami's roster is a mess.

Lanning and staff had to bring in talent on offense that wasn't there at Oregon.

Oregon had to replace it's QB, which Lanning did via the portal. That staff alone turned a bum in Nix into a Heisman finalist. What did Mario and staff do to Van Dyke?

They also lost their top two RBs Dye and Benson, who happen to be the lead rushers at USCw and FSU. Oregon's leading rusher this year wasn't someone already on the roster, nope, he was another portal guy brought in by Lanning and staff from Minesotta by the name of Markeise Iriving.

So again, Oregon's Heisman finalist QB as well as leading rusher were brought in via the portal. One was a bum in Nix and the other was a RB at Minesotta. What does that say about what Lanning thought about what Oregon had at those positions on the roster when he took over?

This is not about defending Mario. Don’t be so basic. This is about seeing the entire picture. Bill Belichick couldn’t fix this ******* mess. There’s barely any depth on the roster, some players are completely checked out, he can’t run his preferred offenses so he reverted back to hybrid of sorts, his starting quarterback is broken, the back up sucks, etc.

What's basic is the same, old tired excuses you just dropped. Insert some big HC's name and say even he couldn't fix this.

Yup, they sure as **** couldn't fix the diaster Mario has caused in his short time here. If you actually believe that Mario inherited a team, that is so devoid of talent that they lost 4 stright home games for the first time since 1973 and have not scored a TD in 2 straight games since 1964, you sir are a lost cause.
