Nick Saban? of course. But he is not. Hes is good but he is him and hes not gonna come to Miami. You'd love him if he was here Bro! I guarantee it!!!
Three 4 game losing streaks In 3 seasons is hardly “one mediocre year”.Sooo the OP is just pushing this same tired narrative..that MR is holding us back from the greatness of yesteryears after literally one mediocre year here while he’s tryna build a program..and now y’all questioning MRs dedication to winning..imo this **** is laughable..but when ppl hold my similar opinion they get dismissed as a slurper or not a real fan..nobody is Nick saban. Nobody in modern CFB has reached the pinnacle and stayed at the top for this long. Even Pete Carroll’s USC tenure got stale. Urban Myer couldn’t substain this level..
You’re misinterpreting my reasoning. I said Saban was one of the best, which means with those resources he gets it done. But let’s be honest, no coach has what Saban has at his disposal. He hires fired head coaches to be analysts. His staff is massive.
I’m saying if everything was equal and he didn’t have the best players at every position he wouldn’t have more than a couple rings. He’s the best coach in America, although the playing field isn’t level
I can respect Saban's hustle and method of demanding perfection...never being satisfied. As a former Marine Corps Officer, that type of attention to detail, discipline, and tough love brings warriors home alive from war. It's the bedrock of success for leaders, whether it's in a military career, the business world, and pretty much any other occupation.
Tough player discipline etc are meaningless if the HC isn't on the same plane. Coddling inferior assistant coaches and nepotistic hiring undermine discipline as the players see the hypocrisy.
Yeah, that's great and all, but they forgot to mention the unlimited resources, recruiting bags, gazillion analysts, etc etc.....
The OP says "It ain't rcoket science" The article has a lot of details describing his success. However, just discipline and recruiting isn't enough. In fact former Saban coordinators have tried and failed at major programs. Muschamp anyone?Unfortunately, Randy could not keep it going continually had undisciplined teams. Among his other issues as well.

I hate when posters think it isn't brain surgery when the average brain surgeon or rocket scientist would love a college football head coach salary.
There is no guaranteed formula for success in Coral Gables, and the closest things to it require a much larger budget.
Gumbo was just following the bigger pot!! No $7.5M/Year at the U!!
Then it's over boys and girls. Last person out please bring the keys with you!! You're not a Democrat are you?? More money is the solution ha! How bout hiring you or me for about $500K. I will GUARANTEE YOU that we would do a better job than MR!!

Do you have a binder too? I have heard this "guarantee" before...
Shula took it when few would, and every single former player interviewed for this story has praise for him. But in 2006, locker-room “cancers” festered. Player accountability slipped.
The scholarship restrictions and shallow rosters didn’t help. “Cancers” doubled as dynamic athletes. Steep drop-offs from first to second string discouraged suspensions.
“Men,” Kines said, per two retellings of the story, “Rich Rodriguez gave up a gold mine for a coal mine.”
“When I can replace you, I will replace you,” he would say to those who chose the latter route. And he meant it.
“By that time,” says then-senior defensive lineman Keith Saunders, “the cancers had grown pretty big. Some guys didn’t care anymore, and it showed.” Saban, according to Johnson, called out upperclassmen responsible for the erosion. Says Davis, paraphrasing his coach: “‘I tried to tell you that this was going to happen, and you didn’t believe me. Maybe now you’ll start listening.'”
Lol! You’re a nice guy, I appreciate that.Just trying to be kind!!
