Players JUMPING ship on not playing in the bowl games. What do you all think. I look at it as abondening the team. Plus the portal RULE. College football ain't the same.

The only games that matter are CFBPO matchups. They are "bowl games" in name only.

The remaining games a across the board are nothing more than glorified spring scrimmages.

I don't necessarily like it but I get it. What's the point of playing in some meaningless game where half your teammates don't give a fuq increasing your odds to get injured for some headphones and an iPad.

But what they should do to combat this is, bowl games don't count against redshirts. Give the youngin's a chance to play without having to worry about burning a shirt.

I have no problem with potential 1st day picks sitting out some crap bowl game in some crap town. You can talk loyalty all you want. Football is a business. You don’t jeopardize a once in a lifetime opportunity to cash in just so your team can win the Nobody Cares Bowl and finish 8-5.

Now, if your team is contending for a Natty, that’s a different story.

I agree totally but you can say Jaylon Smith & Byron Love could be examples as well why top prospects opt out (I know Jay was in the playoffs when he was injured ) but you get where I'm going with this.

Brethren, throw Willis in there too. Injuries can happen at any given time. ****, injuries can happen in the Sr Bowl. And yes, Jaylon did get injured in The CFP, but there’s far less of those stories than not.

100%. The playoff has completely neutered the importance of the other bowls - not that they were important but I think you know what I mean. If there are more games that count you will have less opting out.

So time to expand playoffs to 12 or 16 teams

I'm bothered significantly more when a player calls it quits in the middle of the season, be it being passed up on the depth chart or "shutting it down" to preserve themselves for the upcoming draft. IMO coaches and players alike owe it to the team to finish the regular season (which includes Conf Champ games if in one)....coaches and MOST kids do this which is respectable in my eyes...anything less is a bit selfish

And unfortunately, the intro of the CFP have caused this, as well. It literally spotlighted the importance of Top 4, anything outside of that would be meaningless. That should’ve been tweaked a bit, but again, unintended consequences by the decision.

yea easy to tell players risking their future for a 7-5 bowl game. Bama players don’t do this cause they play in meaningful bowl games. Blame the school that hasn’t cared till now to put them in position for better games. Easy to blame the mostly unpaid people in this whole transaction

Man, I have been thinking about that. I understand that the CFP has meaning (and generates a lot of money) but the fact is that a natty is only in reach to a small number of schools under the current system. More importantly, competing for, and possibly winning, a conference championship still has value. I find it annoying when the only discussion is limited to potential CFP implications.
