I agree when players started to opt-out of playing in the bowl game the game of college football became smaller. But it is a mirror up to a societal problem of people becoming more focused on themselves and not others around them. And the people who agree with it say "well the school makes millions blah, blah, blah" It's not just about those individual players on the team who has a future in pro ball. When a player accepts scholarship to a school you are making an agreement. For your talents you are going to get a free education, free housing, free food, and free training and development of your body and skills for the time you are on campus. That is a BIG sum of money! Ask my daughter who has to pay for her own education. You know the deal when a player signs the scholarship. The player might get hurt badly and not be same, he may be good enough to start on a big-time team but not be an NFL level talent - the University is taking a big risk in that respect. In which case the player graduates and has the necessary education and knowledge to go forward in a non-NFL life. Think about it. A young kid plays organized football his whole life, plays on his high school team for 4 years and gets a scholarship. Goes to the University and plays the whole time there. Now that kid is not going on to the NFL. 90% of that kid's life has been spent playing football and his last game that HE WILL EVER PLAY IN ORGINIZED FOOTBALL a teammate deems it not worth his effort to play because he is better that team. All the while throwing out buzzwords of "brother" and "community". The NFL level kid is not just playing for the school, or coaches who come and go. He is playing for his teammates that trained as much as he did, sacrificed as much as he did, put their bodies on the line as much as he did. Without the rest of the team putting in the effort the superstar doesn't look as good. And that should be remembered during the bowl game.

I agree totally but you can say Jaylon Smith & Byron Love could be examples as well why top prospects opt out (I know Jay was in the playoffs when he was injured ) but you get where I'm going with this.

Bryce Love tore his acl his last reg season game. He also came back for his senior year after his big junior season.

Don’t care, but it’s bad juju for anyone that does it
